Good morning! Thanks for all the notes on making it to 100 posts! I had no clue I was that close yesterday, but I love that I’ve made it this far and am still having fun :)
Here’s to another 100 – and beyond!
Breakfast today included some of my favorites – this meal holds me for a while, which is good for buys work days.
Eggs and Grits
1 kiwi, 4 big strawberries, and a palmful of raspberries
A cup of milk
Plus some awesome home brewed coffee, courtesy of Nick. With a splash of fat free milk.
Today is super, super busy again – I guess I should just get used to it for this week.
Question for today:
Is there something you make at home that’s almost always better than when you get it somewhere else?
I love coffee, and our coffee is always best at home – especially when Nick makes it! If I want a latte or something, I usually get those out, but I have never found a place that just has great brewed coffee.
Have a good morning! See you later for some fun posts :)
Okay, so I just realized I had some type of lentil soup for lunch and dinner yesterday – that’s a lot of lentils! They were good, but I don’t know if that’s ever happened before.
Since I started the Heart Health series at lunch, I thought I would just do lunch + dinner in one post tonight so you wouldn’t have picture/info overload :)
Lunch was the last of the Tandoori Chicken, Apricot Couscous, and some steamed veggies
and an apple, to round out the meal.
I was starving this afternoon, so I also had about an ounce of mixed nuts (mostly raw almonds under the salted ones) to fill me up. That healthy fat does wonders for a hungry stomach!
We went running today! Yay! It wasn’t warm by any means (mid forties), but much better than yesterday. I had a banana this afternoon to see if that helps with the cramp situation.
The Verdict? I still got cramps, but Nick said I should try again and eat it a little earlier than I did today. So, we’ll do another experiment with it and see if it helps. I got a bad cramp a few minutes after we started – then we stopped to look at a map about 15 minutes in – after we started up again (about a minute later) the one cramp was gone, but then I got one on the other side near the end. Maybe I’m just cursed?
Since we were going to our friend’s house for group tonight, we packed dinner to eat in my office on those lovely, fancy paper plates.
I mean, really. Isn’t this design just beautiful?
Mini Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Green & Yellow bean mix
Hooray for Tuesday being over, and hooray that this is my 100th post! I can’t believe it :)
On tomorrow’s schedule:

I am so excited about doing a heart health series, and I really wanted to start out with something fun.
Heart disease is such a scary and serious thing, but I also want this series to be something that people enjoy. I’ve picked a few topics I want to talk about, but the first part is all fashion :)
The Heart Truth (a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease) has started putting on a yearly fashion show, called the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection.
This February, The Heart Truth gives women everywhere an early Valentine with the debut of the 2009 Red Dress Collection. This collection’s debut is an inspiring event that celebrates the Red Dress as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness. On Friday, February 13, The Heart Truth takes this important issue to heart, bringing more than 20 of today’s hottest celebrities together on the runway in fashions created by America’s top designers for women’s heart health.
The Heart Truth created and introduced the Red Dress as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002 to deliver an urgent wake-up call to American women. The Red Dress reminds women of the need to protect their heart health and inspires them to take action. Each February since its launch, the Red Dress symbol has come to life the runway with the support of the fashion industry and celebrity models at the Red Dress Collection Fashion Show.
I found a lot of pictures from this and it looks like such a great idea! I love that they are bringing awareness to this disease in such a fun way.
I couldn’t post all the pictures, but I did want to post some of my favorite red dresses.
If you want to see all the dresses and celebrities that participated, I found a slideshow that has most of it.
Some interesting stats:
Heart disease includes a number of problems affecting the heart and the blood vessels in the heart
Coronary heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the United States
Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States
Prevention is important: two-thirds of women who have a heart attack fail to make a full recovery
Cardiovascular disease is the leading killer of women over age 25. It kills nearly twice as many women in the United States than all types of cancer, including breast cancer
Only 13 percent of women think heart disease is a threat to their health.
Both men and women have heart attacks, but more women who have heart attacks die from them
This is obviously something dear to my heart(no pun intended), and we can see why! Heart disease affects so many people in the US – it’s important that we know about it, including what to look for and what we can do to prevent heart disease.
Here’s to hearthealth! Stay tuned for the next installment!
