3 am wake up call?

So….Nick and I both woke up this morning at 3 am to a strange noise that was coming out of our vents. He went downstairs to take the vent cover off of one and see if there was something in the vent.

A few minutes later, I started smelling a burnt smell! He turned off the heat, but then the fan kicked back on 10 minutes later?!?  It was crazy and we have no clue what is going on.

This is when I’m really thankful we have a propane heater in our house, as well. Nick turned that on, and we went back to bed to weird noises around 4 am and finally got up around 7:30. Nick had to go in to work for a little bit this morning, but I stayed home in case the maintenance guys show up early. I hope we can get this thing fixed!

Having that smell fill up the house was NOT fun when it’s that early, dark, and I don’t have my contacts in.

Breakfast was good since it wasn’t rushed!

I had some eggs cooked in a little olive oil over some grits

eggs

4 strawberries, 1/2 kiwi, and 1/2 clementine

fruit

And a really good cup of French Press Kona Coffee – we’re almost out!!!  I need a Trader Joes, super fast.

Today should be interesting, to say the least. I hope it’s not super expensive to fix!

Same Fish, New Trick

Wow – what a day!

I am so glad tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!  Our weather here this weekend is supposed to be beautiful, and I am ready for it. It has been so, so cold the past few days – it’s supposed to be in the 60s all weekend!

Even though I don’t have any pictures of my lunch, it was pretty good!  I got a soup and salad combo with the house salad (lettuce, tomato, carrot, red onion) and some of their soup which had lots of tomatoes and beans and spices. Yum – I needed the soup to warm me up.

This afternoon actually went by fast today – I had a few impromptu meetings so I wasn’t just sitting in my office all afternoon like I normally do.  But at 5, I was just ready to get home and eat dinner.

Dinner has the same main ingredients as last night, but the preparation was a bit different.

We had the same couscous as last night, just reheated, but I pan roasted some broccoli (a la Mara) and baked the salmon with olive oil, salt, pepper, parsley, and lemon slices instead of the mustard/yogurt mixture.

Before eating, I also squeezed some lemon over my entire plate. It was SO good. I love lemon and salmon together.

Before I forget – tomorrow is National Wear Red Day!   Heart Disease is now the #1 killer of women – another reason to take good care of ourselves and our tickers  :)

Also – I found this really cool thing for any runners/walkers out there who don’t live in Florida or can’t make it for this event. It’s the Virtual 26.2 with Donna – You can register on this website to walk or run either the 1/2 or full Marathon on Sunday, February 15th. Then you map out your route on mapquest, turn in your time to them, and you’ll get a medal and tshirt!  I think this is supercool, and I wish I would have known about it earlier – I’m going to be heading back home that day from the in-laws house, but make sure to sign up if you’re interested!

The Office is on in t minus 47 minutes!

See you tomorrow!

Photo Free Lunch

It’s Thursday!!!  One day closer to Friday!!!

I’ll also be having some coffee once I get to work  :)  No surprise there.

No lunch pics today – we’re going out for one of my boss’ birthdays, so I’m not taking my camera.

I’ll be back later with snacks/dinner posted!

Don’t forget to send me your BSI recipe by Sunday!

Humpity Hump

Is anyone else glad that hump day is over???  That means just 2 days until the weekend!!!!

Sorry for the lack of pictures earlier today, but I am excited about the BSI prize! I hope you are, too.

My day started great – always does when I have good, filling breakfast!  2 over easy eggs on grits

eggs

A kiwi and a few strawberries

fruit

Plus some milk!

This breakfast always holds me for a long time, which is one reason I love it.

Lunch pictures are kind of boring since they’re leftovers again, but it was tasty! Don’t worry!!! This is the LAST time you’ll see the chili mac this week  :)

Plus some green…

And some orange  :)

Remember a week or so ago when I mentioned a cookie I had but forgot to take a picture of? Well…it’s your lucky day  :)  We got some again and I remembered to take a picture before I dug in!

This cookie is from a coffee shop here, The Easy Chair, and they are. so. good. Almost as good as a fresh one right out of the oven.

I had to have SOME kind of fuel before BodyPump  :)

Body Pump was really good – I was telling Nick on the way home that I really hate it sometimes when we’re in there and my muscles are killing me, but I always feel so great when class is over!  I can tell I’m building muscle and getting stronger and I am super excited about that!

Dinner tonight was simple and quick to make, once I got the salmon thawed.

fishdinner

The salmon was baked at 400 with salt and pepper for about 10 minutes, and then I topped it with a mixture of whole grain mustard and Fage 0% greek yogurt. Bake for 5 more minutes and  you’re done!

We also had some whole wheat couscous made with broth, parsley, and garlic powder and some pan cooked broccoli.

I followed the correct plate divisions tonight: 1/2 plate = fruit or veggie, 1/4 plate = whole grain, 1/4 plate = protein. Done and yummy  :)

LOST just came on!!!  Hope you’re watching!
