I had 2 choices in the fridge, both leftovers, but one needed to be eaten or thrown away TODAY so I did my best not to waste it.
We still have some of the ribollita, and I knew I should eat what I could today.
It turned out the be the perfect quick lunch!
I decided to have some crackers with my soup instead of bread – those Kashi Asiago crackers are really good.
I heated up some of the soup along with a little broccoli that we had leftover from the other night and combined the two. The more veggies in this soup, the better!
And some Kashis for crunch.
I’ve got to run up to the grocery store to get a few things I need for dinner.
I’m excited about dinner! I’m using a new dish tonight for the first time, and I can’t wait!
*Check out a shout out for my muffins ON the Coffeehouse Mystery website!!! I’m so excited!
The holiday lunch was fun yesterday, but last night was even better!
Nick and I rushed home so I could change clothes and came back out to town to eat dinner at a bbq place here. Their bbq chicken is so good – really smoky. I got their chicken sandwich and Nick and I split sides: potato salad and beans. The beans here are some of the best I’ve ever had – I don’t know what they put in their recipe, but they’re awesome.
After we finished eating, we headed over to watch some basketball!
It was so much fun! We hadn’t been to a basketball game since last year, and it was a really good game. I’m not sure what this Orange guy is supposed to be, but he’s funny and dances around the whole time.
We got home right as the Top Chef Finale was coming on…so I just watched that and then went to bed.
I was going to continue the basket theme this morning with some eggs-in-a-basket, but I really wanted oatbran, so no basket for breakfast!
While Nick was in the shower, I got breakfast ready. Bacon and eggs with some oatbran for me.
I just like having something with my eggs so I don’t miss any of the runny yolk – oatbran, grits, bread, etc.
I also got coffee made, and Nick cut up some tangerines for both of us this morning.
A complete breakfast!
Almost time for work – I better get some coffee.
What’s your favorite sport to watch?
Obviously, college football is my favorite :), but basketball is so much fun when you’re at the games! I like watching it on tv, too, but being at the games is always better.
I think that bath last night made me a little too relaxed…and it might have lasted until this morning.
I totally did NOT get up on time today! Why does the bed have to be so warm and comfortable?
Honestly, my bath last night was perfect. I used my Rose & Chamomile bubble bath from EO Products (samples I got at the Foodbuzz conference) and read in the bath for about an hour last night. So nice to take some time to soak and read!
But that bath and my good night of sleep didn’t take away my excitement for my breakfast…
Finally! I got to the bottom of our Nutella jar!
I wanted to taste all of that nutella, so I did a basic bowl of oatbran to put in the jar.
1/3 cup oatbran, 1 cup water, pinch salt
cinnamon!
sliced banana
I topped it with a few banana slices and some of those biscuits from my package the other day.
Most of my banana just melted into the oatbran – it was a pretty ripe one, and the banana sliced just disappeared when I stirred the cooked oatbran.
Now if I only had some of that hot chocolate from yesterday… ;)
I have our work holiday party today at lunch – see ya for dinner! It’s a new one I’m making up/trying and should be good.
Do you have holiday parties this time of year? Cookie swaps? Secret Santas?
And thank goodness, because lunch was just leftovers.
My lunch was good – don’t get me wrong – but I just needed something else.
I had some of the Ribollita from the other night with some Kashi crackers and a clementine.
And then Nick and I headed over to one of our favorites places…The Chocolate Spike.
Nick got some coffee and a few chocolates, but all I could think about was a cup of hot chocolate. It is so cold and rainy here today…I just wanted a hot drink to take back to the office with me.
Boy, did they deliver!
I have never in my life had hot chocolate that tasted like this. AND – this wasn’t even just their hot chocolate! I ordered a mocha, which is half coffee and half their hot chocolate.
I don’t even know if I can explain it….it’s this super rich mix of chocolates (dark, semisweet, and milk) and went perfectly with the coffee. I’m kind of sad that I waited so long to try the hot chocolate here but glad I finally did! Nick and I love their chocolates, so I should have known it would be amazing ;)
I had such a sugar rush after this – I was just buzzin’ through work this afternoon, but it did make the day fly by!
With this nasty weather here today, I was really happy we had leftovers to eat for dinner tonight.
I heated up the creamy chicken sausage cacciatore from last night and layered it on top of some broccoli.
Quick, easy, healthy, delicious!
I’m actually finished with everything for tonight – I can’t believe it. I think I may take a bath, read some books for a while, and touch up my nail polish.
