Souper You Giveaway!

A few weeks ago, I found out about a cool new contest and giveaway from Progresso through MyBlogSpark, and I was so excited when the package showed up the other day!

I’ve been eating Progresso soups for years – they’re great for quick lunches and when you just don’t have time to make homemade soup. I have tried a lot of their soups, but the package I got in the included a few I’ve never picked up before and I’m excited to try them!

They also have some new varieties out now, including their 100 Calorie Line and new Lower Sodium flavors.

On top of their new soups, they’re also holding an awesome contest for the new year!

Caffeine Needed

Good morning!

After Roxy kept trying to come upstairs last night, Nick put her in his lap and I tried to make Maggie cuddle with me on the other side of the couch. It worked okay,  I guess; Maggie mostly just stared at Roxy, whined, and tried to get out of my arms.

It’s something, I guess! And at least they’re not totally fighting or anything.

I slept through my alarm today, so I didn’t get up until Nick’s went off. But it was early enough that I didn’t really have to rush this morning.

All I knew was that I wanted coffee!

I made us some of the Jamaican Blue Mountain blend coffee this morning and make me some oatmeal with that chocolate coffee bean trail mix.

Here’s one shot of her from this morning –

Let’s see how she does today!

Tech Savvy, I Am Not

Okay -  here’s a glimpse into what I’m usually like (my friends and family can vouch for this).

I turned on my computer to start blogging dinner and wanted to check my email so I clicked my Firefox icon.

When the internet browser popped up, it said I had no connection! Of course, I start getting antsy thinking that the connection is down because of the weather here or that our router is acting up/unplugged…I close Firefox and try reopening 5 times before realizing that my wireless switch on my computer was just flipped off.

Doh!

I may have book smarts, but I have always been a little lacking in the “common sense” department. :)  At least I have funny stories!

I loved hearing your goals! I’ve read a lot of yours already, but it’s always nice to just write them down or say them again. Plus it’s fun seeing how many different goals people have for this coming year.

Lunch today was boring + leftovers: Nick and I each had some of the leftover couscous and chicken, and I ate the rest of the green beans from the other night. And a clementine to finish out lunch.

I was pretty excited for dinner, though!

Easy + Cheesy.

I made us some Annie’s Mac’n’Cheese tonight and mixed these two boxes together so we could have some leftovers and/or lunches.

IMG_1049

To pump up the macaroni, I sliced up 2 artichoke/garlic chicken sausages and crisped them up in the pan while the water was boiling.

Then once the pasta was almost done cooking, I added 4-5 cups of broccoli to the pasta water and 1 bag of mixed veggies (corn, green beans, carrots, peas) to cook the veggies.

Drain the pasta + veggie mix and then add the cheese sauce and sausage!

Couldn’t be easier :)

I topped mine with a little crushed red pepper, garlic, and salt.

Even after Nick and I ate our bowls and had one more scoop, we have plenty leftover for lunches or another dinner this week.

We’ve been playing with Maggie – she’s doing great with “sit” now! –and trying to see if her and Roxy can be friends :\ That’s not going so well yet…I just hope they can kind of get along once Maggie is out of the “puppy phase”.

And now for dessert – I was hungry tonight, and no wonder! I sort of totaled up the calories for today in my head just to see where I was, and I needed more food.

For some reason, I just haven’t been hungry lately for afternoon snacks, and that’s messing me up. I didn’t really have any snacks when we were out of town for vacation so I got out of my normal routine.

Luckily, I had just enough ice cream left in the freezer for a little mug of dessert :)

The last scoop of the german chocolate ice cream, a couple of crushed pretzels, and a few chocolate chips.

Salty, sweet, creamy. I’m sad there was only 1 scoop!

See you for a giveaway tomorrow ;)

New Year, New Goals

I know what you’re thinking – more resolutions to read? Aren’t I a little late with this?

Maybe so.

I’ve just been thinking about this coming year and what I want, and it’s taken me a while to come up with the right words.

2009 was actually a pretty good year, if I consider the few years before it. We finally had a year with no major medical issues in my family – no heart attacks, no 5 am phone calls, no ER visits or emergency surgeries – and I am extremely grateful for that. After 2 years of craziness, it seemed to calm down for us in 2009.

I’m not sure what 2010 will bring, but I want to be ready.

I don’t really make “New Year’s Resolutions”, but there are things that I would love to see happen this year so I’m just going to put them out there.

I want:

To be a better wife, daughter, sister, and friend.

To trust God more and lean on myself less.

To find a job that I love. I want to be excited about what I do and use my education and my passions every day.

To make a difference in someone else’s life and stop thinking about myself so much.

To wear high heels more often. I feel awesome when I do; I’m just too lazy to really dress up most days, and I shouldn’t be! Go me for doing this today!

IMG_7686

To do things I’ve never done before: bake my own sourdough bread and biscuits (soon!), travel more (soon!), hike new trails, try new foods, wear patterned tights, …

img_1007_thumb-1

To cook even more. I want to try new recipes and make up more of my own.

To have this in February (more on that later).

churro

To read more, to write more, to get out my Pampaw’s old guitar this year and learn to play again (or at least attempt it).

To find peace and joy every day, no matter what happens around me.

To spend as much time with family and friends as possible. They are my everything and I don’t know what I would do without them.

To stop worrying about things I cannot control.

To not miss a moment of this year.

To not sit out of something because I’m scared or nervous or anxious.

To embrace everything I’ve been given and stop pining over the things I haven’t.

I look at some of these things and think they’re totally possible and I know that they’ll happen. And then there are some that I’m not so sure about, but I’m putting them out there regardless.

I want to know that the things I’m striving for are worth it for me.

I’ve read through many resolutions that have been posted and heard a lot from other people and I had to really think about these things. The things I want. The things that are important to me. If I’m constantly striving for what other people have or their goals or their wants, I’m never going to find that peace and joy because I won’t be going after what I want.

So here they are – for me to read and remember at the end of this year.

And who knows what it will bring?

We’re only 6 days in, but I have a good feeling about this year.

What are you goals for this year?
