baby update!

How in the world has this gone by so quickly?

We are WAY into the third trimester (like….only 6-7 weeks to go until due date!!) and I just can’t believe how fast it’s been moving.

Between working on stuff around the house, working-working at the day job, working on the cookbook, working on freelance stuff, and traveling to see family….I’m exhausted. But in a great way! I know my posts here are few and far between right now, but that’s just how it has to be for the time being. There is SO much stuff going on, but I’ve got some great recipes coming soon and a few fun giveaways, too!

So, how are things going?

Really, really good, actually.

I mean, yes, my feet are starting to swell at the end of some days and sleeping is not the most comfortable thing in the world, but I am trying my best to not complain about anything. One, because, I know in the grand scheme of things, swollen ankles really isn’t a problem. And two, because it was such a long, hard journey for us to get here that I don’t want to ever complain about any of this. It’s what we were waiting for. And I’m perfectly fine with all the changes that come with it.

The best thing? Feeling this little guy move all around. It is so crazy and so hard to explain how it feels. It’s definitely the coolest/weirdest/most amazing thing ever.

I’m still loving wearing maternity clothes, for the most part. I lucked out with the timing and got a ton of stuff on super sale around the holidays from Motherhood Maternity. I’ve tried a few things from Target and Old Navy, but they just don’t fit me well. Motherhood has definitely been the best option for me – and I haven’t tried anything on in person (we don’t have a store here), but even ordering everything online has worked out pretty well.

A few weeks ago, we had two showers thrown by our friends and it was so much fun to spend the days celebrating with everyone. I still need to go through all the little tiny baby clothes and get stuff washed and ready, but – besides finishing the cookbook – that’s kind of the biggest thing left to do!

I feel strangely ready and completely NOT ready at the same time. Is that normal? I honestly think having this cookbook deadline just ahead of the baby’s arrival has been good for me in keeping me from freaking out too much or stressing over silly things. It’s been nice to have something else to focus on so I don’t get too worked up about things that really don’t matter.

We haven’t taken any maternity pictures, but I do have a few update pics on my instagram!

So….seriously, advice for us? Things we should know? Things we definitely need/don’t need? I’ll take everything you’ve got!!

  1. SO happy for you guys! YES- feeling prepared and unprepared is totally normal. I think its that combination of I’m as ready as I’m going to be but I have no idea what to expect. Hmm advice- listen to you! Once you have that baby, you will know whats best for the baby. Others may try to give you tons of advice and its definitely worth listening to, but in the end- you’ll know best! Don’t worry about having every piece of baby gear. Once the baby comes- you’ll quickly figure out what works for you baby, what doesn’t, and if there’s anything you need to buy!

  2. Pray for guidance as a wife & a mom, try to everyday, doesn’t have to be lengthy. Then relax and trust those prayers. Erica had great advice.

  3. Hey girl- I’ll be praying for you!! Have faith and trust in Jesus!! He will help you in anything going on day to day!!
