So….I’m kinda the worst when it comes to remembering to buy cards for people. I wish I was exaggerating. If you’re a friend of mine in real life, you’ve probably never gotten a card from me and I’m sorry. I really am; I just never remember. But when I get presents for people, they’re usually great, so does that make up for it? I hope so.

I’m not sure what we’re doing for Mother’s Day this year, but if you’re still looking for a gift, I’ve got one idea that’s always good: chocolate.

Theo has a special Celebrate Mothers box out right now from their Congo collection that’s incredible. I love their packaging and every chocolate I’ve tried of theirs has quickly become one of my favorites. (Tip: their chili chocolate one is good and spicy…make sure you have some milk handy).

And if your mom likes chocolate as much as our moms do, I bet she’d love it. OR maybe you’re a mom and want to get yourself something? Go for it!

Have you heard of their partnership with the Eastern Congo Initiative? It’s pretty cool, actually. And did you know that the ECI is Ben Affleck’s organization? Even cooler.

Even more than just being fantastic chocolate (I seriously have to hide these from Nick so that I get a few bites before he finishes them off), it’s a great initiative:

  • $1 from every collection sold donated to Eastern Congo Initiative, supporting work with moms, families and farmers in Eastern Congo
  • Artisan, small-batch chocolates made from organic & Fair Trade certified ingredients
  • Features ingredients and flavors from the Democratic Republic of Congo:
  1. Mango-White Chocolate Ganache
  2. Congolese Coffee Caramel
  3. Milk Chocolate Vanilla Nib Confection
  4. Dark Salted Chocolate Caramel

IMG_2812

I think my favorite was the Dark Salted Chocolate Caramel, but the Mango-White Chocolate was pretty incredible, too. And the coffee caramel and milk chocolate vanilla nib? Perfect with a cup of coffee in the afternoon…or morning on Mother’s Day.
