For as much as I love cooking, it’s about equal to how much I hate doing dishes. Although…we do have a dishwasher in this house, and I couldn’t say that at our last place.

But loading and running and unloading the dishwasher is almost as bad, especially when you have an older dishwasher like ours that doesn’t always get our dishes squeaky clean. I’m so ready for new appliances. IMG_2611

Even if I use the dishwasher, I usually have to do a lot of pre-rinsing and washing – always with sticky foods like cakes and casseroles. Plus, with just two of us, I normally only run the dishwasher once a week so I feel like I have to rinse things before putting them in the dishwasher to sit and wait until I’m ready to run it. With all my “issues” (I know – I sound so much like a grown-up, complaining about a dishwasher), I was happy when I got the opportunity to take the Finish Rise & Shine Challenge this week from Finish® Quantum®.

Voted Product of the Year, Finish Quantum with New Power Gel is their Best Shine Ever. And what sets this product apart from others is that with it, you can wash without having a pre-rinse. Its breakthrough technology activates each cleaning ingredient when it’s needed during the cycle, so all you have to do is sit back and relax.

So what was the Rise & Shine Challenge? Make a sticky, messy dish and then let Finish Quantum do all the dirty work for me – no pre-rinsing, no cleaning, no doing anything with dishes. Just load them in the dishwasher, run it at bed time, and wake up to a sparkling dish.

Um, yes please!

One of the stickiest and messiest (and most delicious!) breakfast dishes I could think of is this Bavarian Potato Coffee Cake, so I whipped this up last weekend for us to have this week and then stuck my sugar-crusted, sticky, messy pan right in the dishwasher to wait until bedtime.

You can see the almost toffee-like strands of cooked sugar on the pan and how messy the sides of my springform are after this cake bakes. It’s insanely good – and completely worth the time and mess that it makes in the pan – but it’s a pain to clean.

But even with my old dishwasher and this sticky pan, the Finish Quantum worked like a charm! No sugar leftover, no sticky messes still hanging on; I really did wake up to a clean cake pan.  That’s almost as good as waking up to someone else making me this brunch cake.

Since the Finish Quantum seems to work great in my dishwasher, I have a feeling I’ll keep using it from now on. I love that it’s a no-mess product – no pouring, no measuring. You just throw the packet in and you’re ready to go.

  1. Nice! I recently started using Jet Dry and noticed a difference on my dishes… need to try this one now as it looks fabulous! It’s only me and Chris, too, but sometimes on the weekends I end up running the dishwasher 3 times! I tend to dirty a lot of dishes when I cook/bake :)

  2. I hate dishes so much, I hesitate to cook because of it :) but alas I can’t avoid it. That coffee cake looks tasty!
