Cider Orange Bourbon Chiller

This is normally the time of year when I start breaking out hot drinks.

Hot cider. Hot chocolate. Hot tea. Hot cocktails. Hot everything.

But our last week has not felt like December at all – we had temps in the 60s all weekend. Where are you winter?

I’m fine with having a stretch of nicer weather, but it throws me off when I’m trying to plan winter meals and drinks. I mean, hot soup isn’t the best option when the weather is nice enough that you’re literally flying a kite outside in a t-shirt.

The only reason I want winter back is because I have a ton of apple cider to use, and I want it hot! And for that to happen, I need to be freezing. See, I’m strange when it comes to drink temperatures. Most of the year, I want things room temperature – unless I am dying of heat or just finished a crazy hard workout (which, let’s be honest, neither of those happens very often). I like my water closer to room temp than ice cold, and I almost never use ice in my drinks.

But besides coffee in the morning, I only like hot drinks if I am super cold and seriously need something hot to warm myself back up. I’m a weird one. I know.

So drink this iced. Make it hot. It doesn’t matter how you have it – just make it.

  1. This looks so awesomely refreshing! My husband would love this. He’s a big bourbon fan :)

  2. This needs to happen at my house today!

  3. This drink sounds like a wonderful combination of winter & summer!

  4. First, this look fantastic and perfect for our weirdly warm December. I’ve enjoyed bourbon with apple cider before, but I like your addition of orange juice!

Second, I have *exactly* the same issues with my drinks. I want most of my drinks (especially water) at room temperature – unless I’m hot or freezing. It would be nice if the temps would finally drop so I could enjoy my usual bourbon hot chocolates! :)

  5. This sounds like the perfect cocktail, whether you end up drinking it hot or cold! I am personally all about the hot drinks, all the time. Hot coffee in summer! Hot tea in…actually, all the time! And hot cocktails are obviously the perfect thing to drink before going to bed, no matter the season. :)

  6. I LOVEEEEE bourbon. This is my kinda drink.
