my favorite way to eat chocolate

This post is brought to you by Ghirardelli Intense Dark™ Chocolate.

If I was in charge of making the food pyramid, chocolate would be have its own level. I don’t think I have ever turned down chocolate, and I’m pretty sure it will never happen. Almost every baby picture my parents have is of me with melted chocolate, icing, or chocolate cake all over my face. It’s just who I am – the sweet tooth gene has been passed down in my family for years, and it’s definitely not ending with me.

So when DailyBuzz Food sent out invites to try these new Ghirardelli Intense Dark chocolates and figure out our favorite pairing, I couldn’t say no.

I know some people aren’t big fans of dark chocolate – and I just understand you. I am equal opportunity when it comes to chocolate, but dark has always been my favorite. You can taste so much more of the actual chocolate when it’s not full of milk and extra sugar.

Plus, dark chocolate is absolutely made for coffee, and you know how I feel about that.

After trying all the chocolates, I think I’ve found my favorite pairing – for now, at least.

Our figs are still coming in by handful, and they’re incredible with dark chocolate. I think my favorite of the bars is the Sea Salt Soiree (full of tiny bits of sea salt and roasted almonds) – and it’s Nick’s favorite, too. We ate both of these bars in the first day.

This isn’t just my favorite dark chocolate pairing…it’s my new favorite afternoon and/or bedtime snack, too.

Hot cup of coffee, fresh figs, super dark chocolate. It’s pretty much a plate of everything that is good in the world.

  3. I don’t think I have ever had fresh figs… I don’t know anyone who can grow them here! I feel like maybe I’m missing out?

  4. Dark chocolate is my favorite as well. Love the Sea Salt Soiree!

  5. Yum! I don’t think I could ever turn down anything with dark chocolate, too good! I’ve never tried pairing chocolate + figs but love chocolate dipped dried fruit :)

  6. Figs and chocolate yum!

  7. soul sisters… my baby pics are all the same haha ;)

  8. When we were wine tasting in Sonoma, one of the wineries gave us a square of salted dark chocolate and told us to take a sip of red wine, a bite of the chocolate and then another sip of wine. It was amazing, the salt really woke up our tastebuds and the wine tasted completely different. So that’s my current favourite way to eat chocolate but really, I’ll eat it in any form ;)

  9. Toffee Interlude made with dark chocolate…oh my gosh! I need to find it, buy 32984729 packages of it, eat it, and chop it up and bake cookies with it. Yum! :-D

  10. we enjoyed this chocolate too, and paired it with alcohol, but i need to try the fig thing!
