Cream Cheese and Nutella Pie Rolls

Welcome to the week of pie dough in our house.

And Happy Hunger Games.

I know I was way behind on both things but our house has been completely about pie crust and the Hunger Games for the past week.

I read the Hunger Games in a day and both Catching Fire and Mockingjay in less than 48 hours, finished the trilogy last night, and my head is so confused right now.

Sad that I finished them. Still trying to figure out every twist and turn in the plot.

I’m pretty sure I need a book club because I need someone to talk to about everything that happened.

The games, the trickery, the lies, the truths, the deaths, the sacrifices, the loves.

Real or not real?

I have no idea right now. My head is still in Panem.

Between baking pies and flipping pages, we had these little bites.

They didn’t last long – these actually didn’t even last 12 hours.

They’re poppable little snacks. Buttery, tangy, and sweet, wrapped up in one bite.Turns out cream cheese and nutella are a pretty good match together.

Real.

Cream Cheese Nutella Pie Rolls

Makes: 45-50 rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 batch of pie crust dough (make half this recipe)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Roll the pie crust dough out until it’s about 1/8″ thick, around the same thickness you would want if you were making a normal pie.
  3. Spread the cream cheese down the center of the dough and spread out, carefully, so you don’t rip the dough.
  4. Top the cream cheese with the Nutella.
  5. Roll up the dough like you would if you were making cinnamon rolls.
  6. Slice the dough into 1/2-inch rounds and place cut side up on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes until the dough is golden.

  1. I almost went out at 11pm last night to buy nutella bc I was craving something sweet and it was all I could think of. Clearly I need to make that happen today.

  2. These look amazing!! I’m about 3/4 done wiht Catching Fire right now, and it is so freaking good. I have to force myself to put it down at night so that I can get some sleep!

  3. I’m on a nutella kick right now. totally making these this weekend! And I cried throughout the last half of Mockingjay. Who knew a book for pre-teens could be such an emotional roller coaster? haha.

    • ugh, I know, right?!? I couldn’t take it. It was like I was in a coma for a few hours last night after I finished the books. There’s just so much to take in!

  4. ha. i don’t buy nutella, b/c i’d never be able to keep myself out of the jar ;) i feel the same way about that cookie butter that’s been all the rage, too. however, when someone else uses it… :)

  5. Yes, please! :)

Will you tell me?: Is Hunger Games violent? I want to read it, but if it’s gorey/sexual/violent, not so much… Thanks :)

    • Not sexual at all, but yes, some parts are pretty violent. Not horribly gory, and I get grossed out pretty easily.

Some parts – especially in the third book – are hard to read, but the story itself is worth it

  6. Mmmmmnn! Don’t tell anyone but I ate Nutella right of the spoon today.
