Sweet and Crispy Oven Roasted Chicken Wings

Still looking for a game day dish? You’re in luck!

Hi all, it is Zesty from zestycook.com stopping over in Brandi’s kitchen to share with you a super bowl treat that will make your mouth water.  If you are anything like me… you love a good chicken wing!  I have made chicken wings many ways in the past and have had much success.  But the way I am about to share with you now may be my all time favorite.

Favorite for a variety of reasons.  It is quick, easy and so tasty.  It requires few ingredients and if you use parchment paper, there’s virtually no clean up.

The secret ingredient to these wings is definitely the sugar.  It acts as a speed agent to brown the chicken and enhance the outer coating.  Of course you can dip these in your favorite sauce but I am pretty certain you will just be reaching for a napkin with one hand and another chicken wing with the other hand.

If you are making these on Sunday… make lots as they will be popular.

Sweet and Crispy Oven Roasted Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. Whole wheat flour
  • 2 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Dried Thyme
  • 2 Tsp. Black pepper
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 3-4 lbs Chicken Wings

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 450 Degrees F.  Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, thyme, pepper and salt.
  3. Add the wings and toss until they are evenly coated with the flour mixture.
  4. Place them on the lined cookie sheet.
  5. Roast, turning once after 10 minutes or so, until cooked through and golden brown. About 20 minutes.
  6. ENJOY!

Zesty Tip:  Flour and sugar speed up the browning process of the wings.  They help the surface brown very quickly before the chicken dries out, and add lost of toasted flavors in the effort.

A great 2nd quarter snack to enjoy for the big GAME or even a dish to whip up on a busy weeknight and serve with a nice salad. I want to thank Brandi for letting me share her blog today and I hope you enjoyed the post.

Big thanks to Zesty for his guest post and this delicious recipe!
