Best Week Ever 12/5/11

Happy Monday!

Want to see the new color of our den?

It’s a little hard to see in the top picture and the room is still full of our dining room furniture, but I love it!

It’s a pale yellow (Morning Light color from Better, Homes & Gardens) and is gorgeous against all the warm wood in the room. Hopefully coming soon? Curtains.

Now…we’re still working on the dining room.

But ALL of the sickly sweet peach wallpaper is gone!

6 people, a big breakfast, and a couple hours later, we had all the paper off.

Nick has all the walls spackled and patched. Now all we have to do is sand and pick the paint color!

All of this has been derailed a bit since we found out that our shower was leaking…so the bathroom project update will be coming soon enough. We were not planning on doing anything in the bathroom right now, but it’s happening anyway.

One of my new favorite things? Garlic Gold.  Holy moly, their stuff is good! I’d seen so much stuff about Garlic Gold online and was super excited when they emailed me to see if I wanted to try their products. Nick and I LOVE garlic, so I had a feeling they would be my new favorite thing. Those Sea Salt Nuggets? Completing addicting.

And as much as I resisted it at first, I am now completely and utterly overtaken by the Twilight saga.

I bought all 4 books last week when I found them on Amazon for a great price, and I literally read all weekend long. It was fabulous. I haven’t gone on a reading binge like this in a long time, and I’ve missed it.

Between 8 pm – 11:30 pm Friday night and 5:30 am – 7 am Saturday morning, I started and finished Twilight.

I started New Moon around 2:30 Saturday afternoon and finished it at midnight.

And yesterday, I started Eclipse around 8 am and finished it at 10:30 last night.

I’ve got one book left, and I’m already dreading finishing it because then I’ll know that the books are over. I love falling into a story so easily, and it’s always a sad thing when you finish.

New recipe tomorrow! As long as I can take a break from Breaking Dawn :)

How was your weekend?

  1. Your den looks great! What an awesome feeling, to tackle a big job like that and getter done. So sorry to hear about your leaky commode, though — if it isn’t one thing, it’s another, right?

I had a great weekend, thanks for asking! A really lovely long run in Central Park with a friend, dinner with an old college buddy of my husband’s (and his wife), plenty of time relaxing and reading and writing, and of course plenty of QT in my tiny kitchen!

    • Thanks so much! Yup – I should have known that something would go wrong right when we started a project :)

      Sounds like a great weekend!

  2. Garlic oil?! How cool! I defs want to try that :)

  3. Twilight junkie, too!
    *Team Edward*

Love your den color. What color are you doing the dining room?

    • Hi Tammy! :)

We’re thinking of a light, pale blue for the dining room. And eventually, a white tin ceiling (hopefully!)

  4. the den looks great! and i love book binges like that. :)

i read one book in a 3 hour period on saturday (violets of march) and it was glorious! i don’t get opportunities to just sit and read very often, and i took full advantage this time!

  5. Looks awesome! I’m sure you can’t wait until things are done!

  6. That’s exactly how I read the Twilight Saga too- except when I got to Breaking Dawn I spaced it out so it would last longer since I didn’t want it to end.
    Enjoy the last book!

  7. I love the coziness of that color and your house in general. Great work!

  8. The den is gorgeous! I love how bright the room is!
I just bought the GG nuggets for the first time last week from a Groupon deal. I’m just waiting for them to come – I’m so glad you love them!

  9. Love the new den color!! Pretty!
Don’t you love the Twilight series? I think I’m going to read them all again soon.

    • thanks!

um yeah. it’s a little ridiculous. i haven’t even read Breaking Dawn and I’m already thinking of when I’ll start reading them again :)

  10. Have you read The Hunger Games? They are wonderful books.

  11. Ugh wallpaper removal is SUCH a chore. I remember when my family moved our new dining room was papered with this hideous, heavy embossed wallpaper. Took forever to remove it. I do not envy you having that project! At least it seems like you had lots of helpers!

  12. I really love your house!

    • thank you! please come visit sometime :) we’ll drink coffee on the porch. and you can bring the dogs, of course. maggie would LOVE to have new friends to play with.
