Gingersnap Milkshake

I wore eye make up yesterday. This is the first time in a very long time that this has happened.

Want to know why it had been so long?

I am lazy when it comes to girly stuff. I have nail polish and rarely use it. Got a flat iron, curling iron, and hot rollers and they’re all dusty.

I didn’t wear eye make up for over a year (at least) because I didn’t have eye make up remover. That’s it. That’s my reason.

I fixed that last weekend and finally got some. And I remembered yesterday why I don’t do much with make up.

I like eye shadow and eye liner, but they don’t return the feelings. I’m not very good at doing my own make up, which might be why I stick with powder and chapstick.

I can barely put eyeliner on straight. Do you ever do your liner, think you did a good job, and then look in the mirror and each eye looks totally different?  That’s me. Liquid liner will never have a place in my bathroom because I know – I know – what a mess I will make on my face.

Also. Anytime I have mascara on, it’s a given that I will have to rub my eyes for some reason. Rubbing eyes + mascara = raccoon eyes. That definitely happened yesterday, too.

But I did it. Eye shadow, smudgy liner, mascara.

Maybe I’ll get better with practice? Maybe I just need new make up…

Another thing I’m not normally good at?

Making milkshakes at home.

I always, always, always add too much milk. I promise I don’t try to ruin them on purpose! I can usually fix them if we have more ice cream, but it’s not a good thing when you’ve already used all your ice cream and now you’re left with a thin, milky smoothie when you wanted a thick milkshake.

And here’s where milkshakes and make up are the same for me.

I need to practice.

Probably not at the same time, but milkshakes AND make up are always a good idea.

Serve these up for your holiday meal – they’ll go great with pecan pie.

Also – I kept these family friendly, but they would be insane with some vanilla vodka or bourbon mixed in.

Gingersnap Milkshake

Makes: 1 serving. Multiply for more!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vanilla frozen yogurt
  • 1/4 -1/2 cup milk, depending on how thick you like your milkshakes
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 gingersnap cookies
  • 2 gingersnap cookies, crushed

Directions:

  1. Put your frozen yogurt, milk, vanilla, and 3 cookies in a blender. Flip the switch and blend the shake until the cookies are broken down and the shake is thick and creamy.
  2. Pour the crushed gingersnaps into a shallow dish.
  3. Dip the edge of your glass into your shake and then dip into the crushed gingersnaps.
  4. Carefully pour the shake into your glass.

  2. Wow, lady! This looks delicious! Love that cookie crumb rimmed mason jar- that’s how you do it right! xoxo

  3. We could have these with breakfast. I really don’t see a problem with that. Bourbon or not, I’m cool with it :)
    They look so, so delicious.

  4. I am laughing, I use to have the same thoughts on make-up.
Dont laugh, I have actually you tubed it!

  5. I’m totally with you on the make-up. Although I’m lucky if I get powder on!

  6. i’m super low-maintenance too! i wear makeup but only a little bit and couldn’t care less about the brand, etc.

who wants to pay for $$ makeup when you can use that money for ingredients? :) I have vanilla ice cream in my freezer…looks like I need to pick up some gingersnaps!

  7. WITH YA on the makeup. Working from home means – Bev always looks homeless.

    ;)

I want that milkshake. BIG TIME.

  8. I am in the same make-up boat as you. I don’t feel like I’m good at it. Red lipstick makes me think I look like a clown. Whatever. I’d rather have the option to rub my eyes than wear mascara!
I’ve been in the mood lately for gingersnaps–this recipe looks great :)

  9. Eye makeup is the worst. I *think* I have it down now, but sometimes I still look like I got run over by a truck (the words of a good friend of mine’s).

  10. I love this idea. Looks so good and delicious! I love the photographs and the presentation. Lovely!

  11. wow these look phenomenal. And eye makeup is overrated anyways. Just go with a neutral shadow and a slick of mascara, and that’s all you need ;)

  12. this may be the best thing i’ve seen all day…. omg.

    • thanks! i should know by now to only post about things when i still have the ingredients to make it again. i’ve been craving one all day and have NO ice cream!

  13. I totally suck at makeup….and hair….love the gingersnap on the edge of the glass-such a fun touch!

  14. I don’t do makeup either generally, so I totally feel you: Why is it that it’s only when you’re all mascaraed up that rubbing your eyes is like the most incredible-feeling thing in the world?! Just like I seem to only put on lipstick right before going to eat some amazing dinner and drink too much wine. Sigh…

In the meantime, this milkshake? With the gingersnap-crumb ring? This is amazing.

  15. What a delicious combination and it is going to be in the high 70s today. So, this would be a great November treat. Thanks for sharing this and please consider adding it to my blog hop.

  16. This looks great! I could totally imagine drinking this at Christmas.

  17. I love anything with ice cream and the addition of gingersnaps. Love this shake!

  18. I deal with make ups everyday but I suck at making milkshakes! Will try this tomorrow.
