Pumpkin Round-up

by admin on September 7, 2011

It’s not officially fall yet, but I can feel it coming.

The leaves are starting to change here already. I’m not ready for that just yet, but I am happy that football season is here, that the weather is slowly cooling off, that tomatoes are still in season but winter squashes are coming.

I have only lived in one state my entire life. And I don’t think I could ever imagine leaving Virginia simply because of this season.

Fall in Virginia means everything to me.

Reds and oranges and yellows.

Chilly nights carving pumpkins with a mug full of hot chocolate.

Jeans and sweatshirts and flip flops.

Seeing the wisps of your breath on a foggy morning or while screaming at a football game.

And finally learning to love pumpkin. I wasn’t a fan of many pumpkiny things when I was younger. Besides Jill’s pumpkin cookies, I didn’t want to go near anything that orange – pumpkin pie was especially a no-go.

But people change. Taste buds grow up. Pumpkin plops into your life in delicious ways and soon enough, you can’t stay away.

I cannot wait to make some of my favorite pumpkin recipes soon!

It definitely feels like fall here…it’s been in the 50′s in the mornings. It screams fall to me and I’ve already cracked a can of pumpkin. All of these sound fantastic!

I love everything pumpkin! Sadly, though, I think my favorite pumpkin thing is Paula Deen’s pumpkin bars. NOT healthy, but completely, utterly delicious.

These all look amazing – thanks for sharing! It’s a chilly morning in Colorado and I plan on making my favorite fall staple – super easy pumpkin muffins. Canned pumpkin (not pie filling…I use the large can) and a boxed spice mix. It’s so moist!

I was born and raised my first 7 years in Virginia…then moved to MD & NC to finish out my childhood. I still have family in Virginia. LOVE it there!! I’m now in South Florida where we have season changes but they are a lot more subtle, and I miss the changing of the leaves. BUT not weeks and weeks and weeks of COLD weather :)

Fall is my favorite season…but I’m glad I can visit fall. I do miss living through the duration of season changes year in and year out. Sniff, sniff….
