Our farmer’s market is in full swing now. There are lots of different booths – from fruits and veggies to homemade bread to jam and vinegars and cheeses and dog treats.
And last weekend, I went with an additional mission (other than just getting my favorite local fruits and veggies): Foodbuzz and Frigidaire have teamed up for a Farm Fresh check-in program, and I was one of the people selected to participate!
Basically, I went to my local farmer’s market and checked in using GoWalla – and when you do this, it donates $1 to Save the Children. I thought this was a really cool idea, so I had fun checking in at my own farmer’s market.
Shopping local and being able to donate to another organization at the same time? I couldn’t think of anything better.
And if you haven’t checked out the Frigidaire Kids’ Cooking Academy yet, you should. They have some cool initiatives and programs going on right now.
If nothing else, I hope you get out to your own farmer’s market this weekend to enjoy everything local and support your community.
While I did receive a shopping stipend from Frigidaire as part of my participation, all opinions (as always) are my own.
