A Recipe Facelift

Happy Friday!

This week started off slow for me, but it seems like Friday came out of nowhere. I’m excited for another weekend at home and fun projects: more gardening and planting and weeding, a trip to the farmer’s market, and what looks like some good weather!

If you’ve been poking around the website lately, you might have already noticed my newly revamped Recipe page, but if not, I wanted to give it a full introduction because I am PSYCHED about it!

After seeing Emily’s post about her new recipe page and the ReciPAGE program, I was sucked in. Mine was a mess – I didn’t keep up with it very well, and I couldn’t decide on the best way to keep it organized while still looking clean and inviting.

But with this? I love how it looks. I love all the options it gives me AND you. And I especially love that it gives you so many ways to find recipes!

The top of the page will always have a few “featured recipes” (chosen by me through the program) and will rotate through those pictures/names. This will be fun because I can change these depending on the season or holidays, etc.

Next up?

Recent Recipes!

Instead of having to go through blog posts, you can click over to the Recipe page and see the latest recipes I’ve posted (in order). Easy!

It also gives an alphabetical listing of the recipes I’ve already put into the program, which is really helpful and you can search by ANYTHING YOU WANT!

Want to know what recipes I have that use kale? Search for it.

Need some cookies? Done.

This makes everything so much easier and much more user-friendly.

But my absolutely favorite part so far?

All the options it gives you on each recipe page!

Orange Yogurt Pound Cake

by Brandi

Prep Time: 5 mintues

Cook Time: 55 minutes

Keywords: Bake Snack Dessert cake

This is the first pound cake I ever made, and it started a new obsession. Light from the bright citrus and filled with yogurt and whole wheat flour, this is much lighter than normal pound cake recipes but just as delicious.

Ingredients (12 slices)

  • 1 cup whole milk yogurt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • zest from 2 Cara Cara oranges
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1.5 cups whole wheat pastry flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Line loaf pan with parchment paper or grease and flour pan.
  • Whisk together the yogurt, sugar, eggs, zest, and vanilla.
  • Mix in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Fold the oil into the batter.
  • Pour into loaf pan.
  • Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • While the cake cools, heat the 1/3 cup of sugar with the juice until the sugar is dissolved. Once the cake has cooled about 10 minutes, pour the juice mixture over the top and let it soak in.
  • Remove the cake after a few minutes and let it finish cooling on a rack.
  • Mix together the powdered sugar, juice, and vanilla and pour the glaze over the cake.

Whenever you click onto a specific recipe, it gives you the option to print the page as-is (instead of copying/pasting from a blog post), to send it as an email OR to your phone, plus you can tweet it, post it on Facebook or go back to the original post.

If you can’t tell, I am so excited about it!

I think it’s an awesome program and am so happy with how it functions (and looks!).

And while I don’t have every recipe in there yet, I’m working on it! It’s definitely taking a while to go back through over 2 years of posts and plug in the recipes, but I’m having fun with it. The program is super easy to use and I get to rediscover recipes I totally forgot about. Win win.

So check it out!

Like it, love it, think something is missing? I’d love to hear your feedback on it. Poke around on the recipe page and let me know how what you think.

Also – if there are specific recipes you want to make sure get in the system, let me know! I’m still going through old posts and getting things organized, but I want to make sure I get everything in that should be there : )

Happy Friday!

  1. i’ve been thinking about this too… maybe someday i’ll have a chance to make the switch :)

  2. That’s such a great, organized system! I’m working on revamping ours too, but it’s so hard to get everything organized in the best way!

    • Yeah, that’s where I was having trouble – trying to find a good way by myself to get things how I wanted them. This program isn’t free, but I definitely think it’s worth the $ for what you get!

  3. oh my gosh! I’m totally using this. Thank you for for posting about it- you rock!

    • I think you’ll like it! It’s SO easy to use, and I love how clean and organized everything is.

  5. Ooo how cool is that?! I am going to look into it for sure! :)

  6. Very fun. Hmmmm…I’ll have to think about it. The interface does look nice and so easy to organize, but I’m not sure I want something I have to pay for by the month. Though the results sure are pretty.

  7. It looks fantastic! I LOVE my recipage! Have a great weekend, Brandi :)

  8. Oh, I am so excited about installing ReciPAGE! Looks so good!

  9. Totally stealing this idea Brandi – love it! :D
