Finding the Good

I had such a serious post planned for tonight. I thought of the topic during my lunch break and made sure to write it down so I wouldn’t forget.

But then I came home and saw this –

and this –

and I decided that heavy post can wait.

Spring is blossoming all around us, and I for one want to make sure I’m taking the time to appreciate it. To watch it change from day to day, hour to hour. To open the windows and listen to the birds chirping.

And to let go of some of the little things during the day that weren’t great.

Work is over for today.

Dinner was easy leftovers.

I’ve got two books to dig into.

My slippers are already on. Lunch is packed for tomorrow.

And tonight is mine. Lots of reading, lots of post prepping for that Celeb Chef Tour recap, and lots of cuddling. Just how I like it.

I’m finding the good in today – are you?

Tell me something great about your day today! Everyone can find something.

  1. That must have been God’s way to reminding you that the heavy stuff can always wait. But moments like that are so much more worth sharing sometimes. ;)

  2. Hmm… The sun came out and was shining bright, and Al is cooking dinner!

  3. I was having kind of an off afternoon, but when I walked out of work at 5:45, the sun was shining and I shook off the funk I had been walking around in. It was the first time the sun had come out in a few cold, rainy days and it had a huge effect on my mood. It’s the little things!

  4. Spring is so close! I’m finally feeling back to myself today physically. I’ve been hobbling around for weeks and today is the first day that I actually feel almost normal :) Enjoy those cuddles!

  5. At my daughter’s well visit today, the doctor said, “She’s nearly perfect in every way”. I know she probably says that to all the toddlers’ moms she sees, but it still felt good to hear it. :-)

I love your spring photos! I’m still waiting for the flowers to start blooming around here.

  6. This was beautiful! Thanks for the reminder to always appreciate the little things. Love you!

  7. HEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO lady!

so, something great about my day yesterday, (as that is the day in question, here) – I ran in the sunshine! and also saw you said some nice words about me on HTP! so sweet!

something great about today, (as this is the day I am writing this) – slept in a bit, but still managed to have a delicious cup of tea while I was getting ready for work, made it to the office on time, and am now enjoing breakfast and 10 minutes of blogs pre-meeting. woot.

also – PLEASE report on the White House Chef book – clearly I am v. interested!

    • Running in sunshine is always a good thing!

I actually thought about you when I posted the book cover! I LOVE it so far. It’s the viewpoint of Chef Scheib from his time of getting the job at the White House and cooking for the Clinton family and the Bush family. It’s really interesting and very crazy to hear about how many people they had to serve. Plus, it’s a fun look into the White House that you normally don’t get. I think you’d like it! And there are recipes.

  8. Beautiful photos! I love to stop and enjoy the beauty in “small” things! Thanks for sharing!

  9. Sounds like a nice night. I’ve read that white house cookbook, it was very fun. :-)

  10. Ah, so pretty! Sometimes you just need to take time and appreciate the small beauty in everyday things ;)
