Holiday Favorites + CSN Winner

I know why you’re all here, so I’ll get this out of the way:

The winner of the $100 CSN Gift Certificate is…

Heather M

My favorite thing about the holidays is all the decorations you see everywhere. I love seeing all the lights people have outside!

Congrats Heather! Please email me at branappetit [at] gmail.

No recipes or photos yet, but right now, my house smells like:

  • butter
  • cinnamon
  • apples
  • walnuts

It sure is hard to get work done when those smells are coming from the kitchen!

Anyone else already in the holiday spirit?

I am extremely excited about the holiday season. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, and the things I love the most about that day are spending time with family, enjoying a meal together where everyone is involved, and the special smells wafting from the kitchen.

Every family has their own “special” holiday dishes, and I’m sure your kitchen smells different than mine on Thanksgiving Day.

But I wouldn’t give it up for one minute.

The savory and sweet onion smell of the stuffing, that gooey and decadent wisp from my mom’s fudge pie…those are what make Thanksgiving in our house.

And with all the craziness happening lately, I’m focusing on that. I’m so ready to see family again, to share a meal together, to laugh, to tell the stories we’ve heard a million times before, and to just be together. Preferably with a slice of that pie.

Are there certain smells that bring you back to Thanksgiving or Christmas?

  4. Congrats! I’m jealous. I admit it haha

I love the smell of turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas :) Nothing says holidays more to me than the smell of turkey and watching the christmas story for 24 hours straight!

  5. Thanks so much!! I can’t believe I won!

I would have to say cinnamon and pine definitely remind me of Christmas. Also when we can finally use the fireplace, the smell of the wood burning reminds me of the holidays :)
