I’m still dreaming about that pumpkin chocolate chip milkshake I had this weekend.
I’ve been thinking about it so much the past two days that I decided I needed to make my oatmeal taste as close as possible to the shake. Could that even happen? Oatmeal that tastes like a milkshake?
Not many changes from my normal pumpkin oatmeal, but this bowl was definitely spicier!
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup milk
- pinch salt
- cinnamon
- 1-2 tiny drops NuNaturals Vanilla Stevia
- pinch nutmeg, cloves, and ground ginger!
- 1/2 cup pumpkin
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- Dark chocolate chunks
- a dollop of fresh almond butter, for some healthy fat and staying power!
Maybe it wasn’t ice cream or a frozen treat, but my pumpkin oatmeal will have to use all these spices now. I loved the vanilla stevia, too.
I don’t normally sweeten my oatmeal with anything besides banana, but that tiny bit of depth from the vanilla was perfect and it really let the spices shine.
And you can never go wrong with dark chocolate and pumpkin. Ever.
Even more fun in a glass!
Have you ever made a pumpkin smoothie or milkshake? Do you have a good recipe?
I think I need to try making my own soon.

That looks like such a delicious breakfast!
I had pumpkin oatmeal this morning, too! Just wish I had thought to add some chocolate. :)
I’ve never made a pumpkin smoothie, but my husband and I keep talking about it…….now we just gotta do it!
I just ate breakfast…and now I want to eat again.
Pumpkin milkshakes might need to happen in my life. ASAP.
I add pumpkin to my oats much of the time, but you know? I have never added chocolate. This will change… TOMORROW ! :D
I love all things pumpkin, so I bet a smoothie would be awesome too.
Although, it’s too cold for a smoothie right now :))
dark chocolate+pumpkin = delicious! I never thought of a pumpkin smoothie, but it sounds really good!
I’ve never made a pumpkin smoothie or milkshake, but both sound delicious! I’ve been eyeing up the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard at DQ and may have to splurge soon. :)
Ummm, this quite possibly looks better than a milkshake! :)
That looks delicious, even if it’s not a milkshake! On a similar note; I’ve decided I’m going to make pumpkin oats a la mode this weekend :D
O wow, I need to recreate this. Sounds amazing! Thanks for the recipe.
That may not be a milkshake exactly, but it still sounds delicious! I love pumpkin pie spices – I literally dump it into my oatmeal! LOL :-D
I havent made a pumpkin shake but it definitely sounds like something I’d like to try!!
I have made a pumpkin smoothie!
my concoction was this: http://loveforallthingsmango.blogspot.com/2010/10/pumpkin-smoothie.html
I have been making pumpkin smoothies lately and have been sticking to a pumpkin and almond butter combo or pumpkin, banana and almond butter combo.
I add lots of pumpkin pie spice and use coconut milk as my base, they have been tasting amazing! Almost too good to call breakfast. :)
