Snickers Smoothie, Revamped

Remember my Snickers Smoothie?

I’ve been thinking of revamping and making it even better, and I had the perfect opportunity to do just that.

A few weeks ago, Foodbuzz offered up a challenge: Send in your most creative smoothie/shake recipe using Lactaid milk and you could have your recipe presented at the Foodbuzz Festival AND possibly win a chance to attend! Sign me up :) I had SUCH an amazing time at the Festival last year, and I’d love to be able to share my smoothie with others!

There are endless possibilities for smoothies and shakes, but what could be better than a candy bar in smoothie form?


And I think this second one turned out even better than the first ;)

I was surprised when I got the email that my smoothie was a finalist, but I was ready to make it even better than before.

Earlier this week, I received a coupon for Lactaid from Foodbuzz in order to make my smoothie happen.



I was really hoping to find the Lactaid Chocolate milk to kick this smoothie into high gear, but my stores didn’t have it.

Good thing regular milk works fine :)


Snickers Smoothie. Makes 1 smoothie.

  • 1 cup Lactaid milk
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • drop of vanilla
  • 1.5 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp caramel syrup

Blend everything together and get your toppings ready!

  • chocolate syrup
  • caramel syrup
  • sprinkling of chopped peanuts


Wowza – the caramel syrup IN the smoothie AND on top was incredible!

If I didn’t use the caramel, I might have wanted a little sweetener in the smoothie, but this was perfect.

Salty from the peanuts and caramel, sweet from the chocolate and caramel…and just good! I was a little sad when it was gone.

My caramel syrup was the kind you’d use for ice cream, but you could use the coffee-type syrup and it would work great.

Also – to bump up the peanut flavor, you could add in some peanut butter to the smoothie itself. I bet that would be delicious!

And I’m pretty sure this mix would make an awesome milkshake if you subbed in some Lactaid ice cream, too ;)

    but what could be better than a candy bar in smoothie form? Nothing! ;)

    I remember that first Snickers smoothie – both sound delicious, but put chocolate and peanuts in anything, and I’m sure to love it.

    I LOVE this! I am lactose intolerant so you always will see me popping lataid pills before I have any dairy and I always have lactaid milk in the house. I MUST try this! :)

    What a treat! I have a soy milk smoothie almost everyday so I’ll give this an adapted try.

    You had me until the caramel sauce. Caramel sauce is made with milk. Often skim milk or 1% which are both high in lactose. Sooooooo, while I’m sure this is delicious, it can only be for slightly lactose intolerant folks.

      That’s true!

      That’s one reason I also listed using those thinner coffee syrups as an option – they don’t have any dairy in them, so it would be a great option!

      Also, while it would be more work, someone could also make their own caramel sauce using Lactaid milk, which would be delicious.
