Curry at Home

There aren’t many foods that scare me, but making curry dishes at home is one thing that leaves me shaking in my boots.

I’ve had some amazing curry and some not-so-good curry and I’m always afraid that mine will end up in the “not-so-good” category.

Thankfully, being a Food & Wine Blogger Correspondent for the past few weeks has given me the courage (and a recipe!) to try one more time.

Finally! I made a curry – a real, flavorful, curry!

It turned out so much better than all the other recipes I’ve tried – most have had too much liquid, not enough spice, or a bad combination of both.

It may not be perfect or have all the traditional ingredients, but the flavor was spot on and delicious!

Spicy, sweet, tart, savory.

This Curried Chicken with Apple recipe was the best curry I’ve ever made at home.

And, since I can’t have curry without rice, I cooked some brown basmati rice in place of the pasta it calls for in the recipe.

A nice spicy dinner on a cool fall night.

  6. Yum, this looks wonderful! Andrew used to make curries quite often for us… need to get him to make this one for us soon!! :)

  7. This looks gorgeous. I love that it has some surprising and unusual ingredients in it. I think the secret to making anything well is trying again and agai nand experimenting with different recipes to see what you like. It looks like you’ve accomplished that here.

  8. This looks delicious! The only time I make curry the only spices I use are curry powder, salt, and pepper lol

  9. Kudos to you!!! I try to stay away from Thai because I fear my version never lives up to the real thing. It kind of disappoints me and then I just really wished I had the real thing. But the curry looks amazing!

  10. I love curry, and it’s one of the things I really would like to make at home one day. Yours looks amazing. I’m a bit intimidated, but I think I’m going to try it out soon.
