Food + Wine

I love when dinner turns out as good as I imagine.

After talking with the wine guy at Kroger, he suggested this bottle to make a beef burgundy-type dish.

The cherry flavors in the wine really came out and it was a great one to use in dinner and to have along side.

I used some local beef to make a quicker version of beef burgundy – it had all the “typical” ingredients:

  • beef
  • pearl onions
  • cremini mushrooms
  • bacon
  • red wine
  • beef broth

We served ours over some whole wheat Israeli couscous and some snow peas on the side.

Nothing like a hearty meal after a long day of work and a good run!

We did 3 miles today and my legs felt like lead. Overall, it was a pretty good run.

I’ve got some stuff to prep for tomorrow and a crazy puppy on my hands. Nick just gave her a bath, and she always goes nuts for about 15 minutes afterwards. I don’t know why, but it’s pretty funny :)

  1. I just opened a bottle of Pinot Noir and I’m loving it also. A nice fall wine! :)

Great job on the run but I totally understand the lead legs feeling.

  2. I’m sipping a glass of Pinot Noir right now as well. Delicious!

  3. Looks great!! I love cooking with wine… it makes everything taste better!

  4. That dinner looks incredible! I’d say anything involving red wine is a good thing.

  5. I love when dishes come out as good as if not better than planned! I have a saying…”I like to cook with wine…and occasionally some makes it into the food” ;) TRUTH!

  6. That sounds fabulous! And I love cooking with wine when you end up with leftover wine to have with dinner :)

  7. Do you do snow peas raw or do you cook them–if so, how? Sorry, random question. I am trying to figure out something else to do with them :)

  8. Looks delicious! I’ve always wanted to try my hand at beef burgundy.
