Behind the Blog: Amanda and Andy

Happy Friday!!!

It’s not only the start of the weekend, but also the beginning of a holiday weekend! I hope you have some special time carved out to spend with friends and family and celebrate together.

Today’s Behind the Blog features a couple that I was lucky enough to eat dinner with at the Foodbuzz Festival last year. They’re super nice (and hilarious), and I‘m happy they’re here to answer some questions!

1. What’s your name and blog address?

We are Amanda and Andy from Two Boos Who Eat

Picture250

2. How long have you been blogging?

About two years. Andy and I actually kind of/sort of met through blogging. I met his best friend via my old blog and his friend brought Andy along with him to a movie. The rest is history.

3. What do you love / hate about blogging?

Amanda: I love the community. Recently I posted about an upsetting injury and couldn’t believe the responses I got. The blog world is so nice! I hate that we are all so far away and that the blog festivals can be so expensive. I need me a sponsor!

Andy: I should echo what Amanda said, but just add that I don’t spend enough time looking through the blogs of others. And I should. So I guess that is what I hate, too much good stuff out there, too little time.

4. What’s your favorite color?

Amanda: Purple! It was one of our wedding colors.

Andy: Blue

5. Favorite movie?

Amanda: High Fidelity. I loved the book and the movie is just as good. John Cusack is a dreamboat.

Andy: Pulp Fiction

6. Favorite book?

Amanda: I love “To Kill a Mockingbird”, “High Fidelity,” any book written by Wally Lamb and the Harry Potter Series. I am quite obsessed.

Andy: Growing up I loved Catcher in the Rye. Now, I will be cliché and go Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain.

7. Favorite food?:

Amanda:Avocados. They are perfect.

Andy: Impossible question to answer. But, I will go with braised short ribs.

8. Chocolate or vanilla?

Amanda: Vanilla. Especially in ice cream form. I’m not huge into chocolate ice cream.

Andy: Chocolate

9. Favorite tv show NOW and when you were growing up?

Amanda: Now it’s Dexter. I’m behind though and waiting patiently for Season 4 to come out on DVD! When I was growing up it was “Saved by the Bell.” Love me some Zack Morris.

Andy: Now, even though it has been off the air for 5 years or so, Arrested Development. When I was a growing up, I loved the Simpsons.

10. Do you like playing sports? Watching sports?

Amanda: I like to watch baseball sometimes. Otherwise I am totally horrible at sports.

Andy: I don’t really play sports anymore, but I want to golf more. As far as watching, I love baseball.

11. Are you a coffee or tea person? Or neither?

Amanda: hot coffee, iced tea. LOVE!

Andy: Coffee

12. Do you have tattoos or piercings?

Amanda: Nope! I had my ears pierced 4 times but they got infected. I’d love to get a tattoo one day.

Andy: I used to have my ears pierced. My profession doesn’t look fondly on these things. I am a teacher.

13. Do you have any special talents?

Amanda: haha no! Isn’t that sad?

Andy: Yes…

14. If you could go anywhere in the world TOMORROW, where would you go?

Amanda: Ireland. It’s my dream.

Andy: I miss being in Hawaii everyday

oahu

15. Last thing you ate?

Amanda: Organic pluots and peaches from the CSA we joined.

Andy: Same as Amanda

16. When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Amanda: A teacher. And I’m currently working on it. I start student teaching in a few weeks!

Andy: I wanted to be a sports broadcaster/announcer.

17. What was your favorite subject in school?

Amanda: English. I’ve always been a book nerd.

Andy: I never really liked school, until I got to college. I majored in Political Science, so that was my favorite.

18. What games did you play when you were younger?

Amanda: I used to love the game of Life!

Andy: I played a lot of sports when I was younger, both in leagues and just with friends. And played a ton of video games.

19. Favorite restaurant?

Amanda: Napa Rose at Downtown Disney in California comes to mind…

Andy: My friend took me to this amazing Korean BBQ in Korea Town in LA a few months back and it was amazing. I can’t remember the name.

20. Favorite store?

Amanda: Anthropologie. I get lost in there. It’s an addiction.

Andy: I guess target, we go there like 12 times a week it seems. Or Trader Joe’s. They are next to each other!

21. Favorite animal?

Amanda: Pandas.

Andy: Unless you are talking about eating, I don’t like animals.

22. Favorite thing to cook/make?

Amanda: I love making mashed potatoes for some odd reason. It relaxes me.

Andy: Breakfast foods. Eggs, pancakes, potatoes, etc.

23. Most embarrassing guilty pleasure?

Amanda: I play The Sims all the time.

Andy: I’m not really embarrassed about anything I like. I figured out long ago that being open is the best and that if I can’t be open with someone, I don’t want to be around them. And I like amazing things…obviously.

24. Do you have any nicknames?

Amanda: Boo. Haha

Andy: Amanda and I alternatively call each other Boo or Bear, or Boo Bear.

25. List one thing the “blog world” doesn’t know about you but should!

Amanda: hmm… I’m really shy within the first five minutes of meeting me but it’s easy to get me out of my shell. I have 3 sisters and a little brother. My brother is 17 years younger than me and we have the same parents. Craziness. He was a total surprise but such a blessing. He makes my life complete.

Andy: Totally socially awkward. I try really hard to not have panic attacks in public and to be friendly and nice. It literally is hard to do.

Thanks so much you two! :)
