1. What’s your name and blog address?

Michelle from Give Me the Almond Butter, www.givemethealmondbutter.worpress.com

2. How long have you been blogging?

I started my blog after one of my media courses had us start a blog on wordpress for our class. I knew that it was a sign. I had thought about starting a food blog after reading them for 4 months so I finally gave in on April 2, 2010.

3. What do you love / hate about blogging?

I love expressing myself through writing. In the architecture program, we don’t write ever! I love getting the chance to let the words just flow through my fingers.

I also like to share my lifestyle with others. It’s so different eating healthy in a college environment. It can really be a struggle with everyone always going to ice cream or getting Qdoba every day, but I have found that I really enjoy cooking food that fuels my body well.

4.  What’s your favorite color?

I don’t have one! I honestly think all colors are beautiful and have their place in this world. I love how fiery red makes me feel, how yellow is so cheery, how blue is so relaxing and serene and how green can either calm or energize me.

5. Favorite movie?

Oh gosh, I have so many. I love my chick flicks, so I will have to go with The Last Song. Liam Hemsworth is just so easy on the eyes and really inspires me to think about the type of guy that I want to be with.

6. Favorite book?

I just love the magic in the Harry Potter series. It just whisks you away and I can completely get lost in these books.

7. Favorite food?

This is probably the hardest question to any foodie. I’m a huge fan of Thai and Indian cuisine but my oatmeal is such a great way to start off the day.

8. Chocolate or vanilla?

When I was little it was chocolate or nothing, but now I love both flavors. They are such great compliments to each other. My favorite cake combo is vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. So I guess I’m indecisive on this one as well ;)

9. Favorite tv show NOW and when you were growing up?

I love the show Bones right now. It’s like CSI, but the characters just wrap you in. The sexual tension between the two main characters is just addicting. Growing up though I was such a big fan of Doug, even though I couldn’t quite figure out why Skeeter was blue…

10. Do you like playing sports? Watching sports?

I love all sports. I played 13 sports growing up and in college I’ve done 7 different sports in PE classes including tennis, rock climbing and ice skating. In high school though I did diving, gymnastics and track. I was huge into pole vaulting my senior year.

11. Are you a coffee or tea person? Or neither?

I drink both on occasion. I usually only drink coffee in my homemade frappachinos and tea if some is available. I don’t depend on either though.

12. Do you have tattoos or piercings?

I just have my ears pierced. I’m pretty lame on that level haha.

13. Do you have any special talents?

I can time manage incredibly well. In the architecture world this is a godsend of a talent. In my studio I never stayed past 10:30PM when most people did all-nighters and during spring quarter I never stayed past dinner time. I would just work from 8AM-6PM every day and was outta there :)

14. If you could go anywhere in the world TOMORROW, where would you go?

Spain! I would love to join the party :)

15.  Last thing you ate?

A bowl of Raisin Bran, millet puffs and Kashi honey puffs cereal with almond milk

16. When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A whale or dolphin trainer. I even planned to go to UCSB for marine biology.

17. What was your favorite subject in school?

I loved history even though I wasn’t good at it. Algebra was also extremely fun. I had really fun and inspirational teachers that made learning so much fun.

18. What games did you play when you were younger?

My neighbors and I would play huge games of capture the flag. I was also a huge fan of hopscotch, foursquare and bump. I’m a fan of any board game, but especially Life!

19. Favorite restaurant?

I love Holy Cow Cafe in my college town. We have a lot of mom and pop restaurants there too that I love going to. There is so much love in all of the food they make.

20. Favorite store?

Clothes: Nordstroms Grocery Store: Trader Joes

21. Favorite animal?

I love my furry lovebug, Grant. The personality and sense that dogs have is just amazing. They can truly warm your soul on a bad day like a good bowl of oatmeal.

22. Favorite thing to cook/make?

Though I generally prefer cooking, I love baking for people that I love. I put so much more care into my baking so that the proportions are perfect.

23. Most embarrassing guilty pleasure?

Re-reading my teen-bop books about their little crushes in high school and finding their princes!

24. Do you have any nicknames?

Ever since a couple of my high school friends found out that I used to be called “Shelley” when I was very young, I get called it a lot! But my college friends can’t even think of me as a Shelley.

25. List one thing the “blog world” doesn’t know about you but should!

I severely dislike spinach in my smoothies! I try to incorporate it to get more veggies in, but the green freaks me out. Nevertheless I occasionally make a green smoothie.

  1. Is that you pole vaulting?? That looks like it’d be so much fun!!

    • Yeah! That was one of the informal meets that I had my senior year of high school. It’s a very thrilling sport. My favorite part is when you’re at the top of your vault the pole releases the force built up and throws you into the air. It makes my heart race and gives me a high in a different way.
