Jack Brown's Burger

Hello from Harrisonburg!

After working on finishing stuff up around the house, we completed the “eat everything in the fridge” challenge.

I had one of the last servings of dinner from the other night on top of romaine, spinach, and some extra tomatoes. Plus some cantaloupe and blueberries.

And – the biggest green smoothie I’ve ever had.

We had about 5 cups of spinach that needed to be used or tossed, so I put it all in a smoothie!

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup plain Almond Breeze, 1/2 -3/4 cup chocolate Almond Breeze
  • 1/4 cup greek yogurt
  • 5 cups spinach
  • 2 Tbsp PB2

And I got to use this new BlenderBottle that I got from America’s Nutrition to try out. It’s a big bottle that comes with this whisk ball so you can shake up powders or just keep your smoothies from separating. My smoothie was great in this! I can’t wait to use it again.

Nick and I packed up and got on the road around 2 pm today, after dropping Maggie off with a friend. I think we were more sad about leaving her than she was about us leaving – she’s staying with some friends that have 2 big labs, so she’ll have a ton of fun while we’re gone.

We got into town around 5 tonight, unpacked the truck, finished packing bags for tomorrow and then headed out for a quick dinner.

I’ve been dying to try the burgers here.

Jack Brown’s in downtown Harrisonburg.

We’ve been here for their deep fried oreos, but I had never had their burgers before tonight.

They always have just a plain burger or cheeseburger on the menu and then they have daily specials.

Today’s specials?

Sadly, none of us were adventurous enough to try “The Elvis” tonight, but The Cowboy burger was amazing!

They have some crazy creations!

Tonight, I went with the Cowboy burger and we split some sweet potato fries.

I love the soft, steamed buns they use here. I’m all for good doughy bread with a thick crust any other time, but not on my burger. I want somethings soft that melts into the middle with everything. This was perfect, with melty cheese, smoked bacon, and barbeque sauce.

Plus an Anderson Valley beer to cool me down – it’s muggy here!

It’s 8 pm and past our bedtime :)

We’ll be leaving the house at 1:45 am!!! I wish I was tired. It’s like Christmas Eve on nights like this – I just can’t sleep!
