Little Celebrations

I took my camera and computer to Nick’s parents house this weekend, but I never even turned on my computer and the only pictures I took this weekend were of this little guy.

Family time > computer time.

Uncle Nick and our little nephew!

We had so much fun visiting this weekend, playing with the baby and the 3 dogs. Saturday night, Nick’s parents stayed home with the baby and dogs, and us “kids” went out on a double date.

It was a fun weekend, but Monday seriously showed up way too fast.

Nick and I did get up and go running this morning, though! It was muggy and disgusting outside, but I’m glad we went.

I just made me some oatmeal with strawberries (and hidden nectarine), plus a blob of almond butter.

We also bought some Kona coffee this weekend, and it is delicious and will get me through the morning.

How was your weekend?

What are you thankful for on Monday mornings?

Today, I’m thankful for good coffee, a filling breakfast, and good memories.

In all honesty, this past week was really tough for me. Last Monday was 11 years since Marques and his mom passed away and driving to Nick’s parents house meant we drove past that spot where the accident happened twice this weekend. It was kind of strange to be thinking about that early in the week and seeing our new nephew and celebrating him and new life at the end of the week.

But that’s life, I guess. You can’t have joy without pain, gain without loss.

All in all, last week wasn’t too bad but I’m certainly ready for a new week.

  1. I am thankful every Monday to have a job. I may not like going to work every Monday but I am still thankful

  2. That baby is adorable! Mondays, to me, always mark the start of something new. No matter what happened last week, Monday is a fresh start!

  3. I’m so sorry that you had to relive painful memories during family time. My husband got in a bad car accident a few years ago and I get chills whenever I have to drive by that spot.

Today I’m thankful for my health (and my husband’s health!).

  4. Your nephew is adorable!

I just clicked back to the 10 year memory post you wrote and they seem like such an amazing mother-son combo. I’m so sorry for your loss.

  5. Your nephew is so cute!

  7. I actually enjoy Monday mornings.. something about getting back into a routine makes me look forward to the work week.

But… I definitely look forward to the lazy days of summer weekends more ;)

  8. It is so hard when grief sneaks up on you. But the joy of new life as you remember those who aren’t here is great.

  9. What a beautiful baby boy!

I am grateful for 80 degree weather (instead of 95!) and not having to use the A/C (for a few days, at least!).

  10. Congratulations on the new addition! He is too cute. I love babies.

Grief has a funny way of sneaking up on us. I can relate. I’m sorry for your loss.
