Thursday Confessions

1. I’m obsessed with House Hunters, Property Virgins, and My First Place on HGTV. I really want to apply to be on the shows whenever we’re ready to look for our first house.

Why is it so fun watching other people that I don’t know pick a new house? I don’t understand it…but I keep watching. And I try to guess ahead of time which one they pick ;)

2. I can watch any episode of I Love Lucy, no matter how many times I’ve seen it in the past, and still laugh. I also want the wardrobe from the show – her dresses were fabulous!

3. …and I still can’t breathe very well :( I’m wondering if I’m developing allergies or something. I never get sick this time of year, but this is the 2nd or 3rd time that I’ve had this random stuffiness and congestion show up, and I have no idea why!

I’m just hoping it goes away soon. It’s not fun being able to only breathe out of one side of your nose.

Possible solution? Spicy lunch!

I wanted to see if having a hot and spicy lunch would help clear up my head, which also means I got to try another new frozen meal.

I picked up this Ethnic Gourmet Pad Thai with Tofu a few weeks ago when I saw it on sale.

4. I love Thai food – I love how the heat in Thai food builds up so each bite isn’t too bad, but by the time you’re finished eating, your mouth is burning, your eyes are watering, and you’ve downed 3 glasses of water in a matter of minutes. And you’re happy about it. I know I am!

Pad Thai isn’t typically very spicy, so I made sure to add some extra heat for lunch.

I heated the dish up and added some green beans to bulk it up a bit and get in some more veggies and added some crushed red pepper, a little hot sauce, just for good measure. Plus a squirt of lime and crushed peanuts – necessities for pad thai!

I was out of our favorite chile garlic paste (which is super spicy!) and would have been perfect in this, but the red pepper + hot sauce did the job.

It definitely cleared my head up a little! I wonder how long it will last…

What’s your confession today?

  1. I’m the SAME way with I Love Lucy! They just never get old! I remember when they used to show them on Nick @ Night and it was my favorite. Now they play shows from when I was actually growing up….GAH!

MUST be allergies…mine have been killing me lately! :/ That time of year!

  2. I confess I LOVE primetime TV and will watch new shows 8-11 and then tivo the ones I couldn’t watch 11-2.

And I feel the same about I Love Lucy. I can also watch any episode of Greys Anatomy and still cry. DId you know the scene of Lucy where she’s stomping grapes and gets into a fight was unrehearsed? They’re actually throwing down for real in that grape vat

  3. Sorry to hear about the allergies! Spicy Thai is always the best solution to that problem though.

    Feel better hun!

  4. Oh I’m obsessed with all those home finding shows…it’s insane how many I watch. And I’m always trying to guess which one they pick! Oh and hope you feel better soon…random sickness is no fun.

  5. I just got into Man vs. Food and I am obsessed. I can’t stop watching the show. I love how you get to see the real restaurants where the locals go and I find the host Adam very charming.

  6. Sorry to hear about your breathing issues! Perhaps it is allergies- it is that time of year.

I can see how those shows are addictive lol I am not much of a television watcher but I have caught the ones you are talking about at some point in my life and you can’t not watch the entire episode haha

  7. I talk to myself in grocery stores sometime. :-)

  8. Fun, I did a similar post today so I’ll steal one from mine – I watched all 7 seasons of Buffy in the last few months. (with my consenting husband!)

  9. I’m totally the same way with I Love Lucy… When I was little, I was OBSESSED and had the entire Nick at Nite schedule written out. I wish they still showed these kinds of shows on Nick at Nite!!

The pad thai looks delish too! I always see that brand in the store and never know if it will be good or not, but I might have to give it a try!

  10. I share your same sentiments in regards to the Thai food. I ate a veggie curry a few weeks ago and by the end I had finished my glass of water and my friend’s haha! So worth it!

I confess that part of me wants to stay home tonight just so I can watch Bravo even though I haven’t seen one of my friends in over a week – decisions, decisions ;)

  11. Were you deliberately quoting The Nanny or was that by accident? Either way, that’s the most awesome obscure reference I’ve seen this week :D

  12. I hate when I feel like the House Hunters are making a poor choice or when they keep talking about how they dislike the fixtures or the paint color because those things can easily be changed.

  13. I love the “Vitameatavegamin” episode!!! hahaha :D
Sorry you’re still feelin stuffy. Take some allergy medicine, a big bowl of ice cream, and I Love Lucy episodes and call us in the morning ;)

  14. Mmmmm love spicy food! I hope you feel better!

  15. Confession?? I just ate my weight in cookie dough, and now I’m in a sugar coma! Haha.
    Hope you feel better!

  16. I watch all of those shows too!!! I also want to apply to be on one when we’re ready (probably within the next year). Hopefully My First Place because they surprise you with one decorated room! ;)

  17. I have the same obsession with House Hunters/Property Virgins/etc! I hate when they make stupid comments about stuff that can be easily changed. I also think it’s crazy to see how vastly different housing options are across the country depending on the price.

  18. i LOVE hgtv! it is addicting!
