Frozen Find + Discount!

I’m trying something new for lunch today.

I don’t buy many frozen meals. Most are filled with junk and are never as satisfying as meals brought from home, but I have had luck with the frozen Kashi meals in the past.

The only bad thing? They’re extremely expensive – I know I’m getting good food when I buy them, but we also can’t afford to pay $5 for one frozen meal, so I only buy them when they’re on sale. Nick loves to have a few in the freezer as back-ups, and I decided to try a new one today.

Nick has had this Mayan Harvest Bake before and really enjoyed it, so I can’t wait to try it! It sounds like such a great combination.

Black beans, sweet potato, plantains, and kale with a spicy ancho sauce? I don’t think you can ever go wrong with those ingredients.

I also brought some snap peas to go along with my meal (and to get a little extra green in my lunch).

Want to try Kardea bars for yourself?

Nancy from Kardea posted a discount last night, and I wanted to pass it along!

If you order from the Kardea site, she’d like to offer you a 15% discount -just use code DISCOUNTS at checkout

Sweet, huh? I brought another flavor to try this afternoon, so I’ll make sure to report back.

What’s your newest food find?

All these coconut milk items have been so fun to try lately! Definitely my latest favorites.

  1. Wow. We must be on the same wave length – I brought a frozen lunch today, too (Morningstar), which I never do! :)

My newest food find has to be xanthan gum. I LOVE how it thickens my smoothies!

  2. Yay for a discount on those fabulous bars :)

  3. Good choice, that Kashi meal is my favorite frozen meal by far!

  4. yea thats the only downfall with frozen healthy meals.. the pricetag!! :(

ive recently discovered the deliciousness that is millet. i never really had much of a chance to make it before.. but its really good!

  5. I have been loving some different cereals and bars lately. I haven’t seen that Kashi dish, glad you are trying it out for me. :-)

  6. Kashi makes some really good frozen meals. I don’t ever buy them either since they’re so expensive but when I’m back home (and it’s not on my budget!!) we’ll get their pizzas. Oh, and the latest food find for me is soy bean powder. It’s nothing new, but I use it in practically everything I bake.

  7. Since you’ve been talking about coconut milk, I thought I would ask you about coconut oil. Have you ever tried it, and if so, what do you think? Here is some information about it’s uses:

    • I haven’t tried coconut oil, but thanks for the article! I’ll definitely check it out.

  8. I’ve never tried the frozen Kashi meals, but that one sounds really tasty. My most recent food find is PB2. I know it’s received mixed opinions, but I love it in my oatmeal and smoothies. And I just ordered some of the Kardea bars–thanks so much for the discount!

  9. I love all of the Kashi meals that I have tried, besides the Mayan Bake. I really like their Black Bean Mango and the Tuscan Veggie Bake. I do wish they were more reasonably priced.
