Pre-Dinner App

Today’s been busy!

Nick had to go into the lab for a few hours, so I picked up our co-op produce, bought groceries, and got my haircut while he was working.

I also found a new pair of khaki pants! I don’t know why, but those are the most frustrating things to find. Either they don’t fit well at all, they’re too stiff, or you can see the pocket lining on the outside of the legs and I hate that! I found a pair at Ann Taylor Loft today for just 19.99!

We ended up getting home around 3 pm and we’re planning on having Nick’s birthday dinner tonight, so we didn’t want to have a big lunch since it’s so late already.

Thankfully, those pancakes really kept me full!

My “lunch / snack / pre-dinner appetizer” was a big tasting plate: celery, tomato, black olives, sweet potato falafels, and hummus.

Nick’s birthday isn’t until Tuesday, but this place is kind of far away and would be too hard to do on a weeknight.

We’re finally trying out The River Company! It’s a local restaurant / brewery, and we’ve been dying to go ever since it opened.

They specialize in local beef…so we’ll see how I do with eating vegan there :) They actually have some great sounding appetizers, salads, and a roasted veggie pasta that might work out great!

Happy Saturday!

PS: Nick just found “The Notebook” on tv…so I’ll sucked into this spot on the couch until we leave for dinner :) Anytime this movie is on, I have to watch it. Pathetic, but I love it.

  1. In San Francisco I swear I saw Ryan Gosling walking around Stanford University!! I almost melted. Later I learned he went to school in Low Angelos and spends most his time there or in Canada so it most likely wasnt him..just his look-alike. but close enough, right?? haha

    Have fun at dinner tonight!

  2. sweet potato falafels sound soo good!!! thanks for sharing!
My wife loves to look for bargains in the loft as well!

  3. Tasting plates are the best way to eat! That looks delicious and so healthy.

  4. I’m addicted to that movie as well. I get sucked in every time.

  5. Good luck with your vegan dinner! I’m sure you’ll do great!

  6. I have never been able to get sucked into the Notebook! I swear I’m just heartless or something. I don’t know what it is!

  7. Why is it that khakis are the hardest thing to find? They should be everywhere because they are always a classic and a person always needs them for something.

The restaurant you are going to sounds great. I love the fact that they use local food sources. There is nothing like eating from what you can find in your own backyard.

  8. The Notebook is horribly acted and based on a book that I don’t like, but I love it anyways! I’ve wanted to be Rachel McAdams for like…forever…so that may have something to do with it ;)

I’m sure you’ll find something amazing at the restaurant – can’t wait to hear about it. Local food is always the best.

  9. Sweet potato falafels sound a little too good to be true….
