Biscuits and Recaps

Going unplugged on the weekends is one of my very favorite things to do.

Thank you for all your notes from Friday – I guess everyone has those days every now and then, and I’m moving on.

The Blindside was great! I loved the story, but I was a bit sad there wasn’t more football – anyone else?

Saturday morning, we woke up and made an awesome breakfast. Nick made bacon gravy, and I think I perfected my biscuit recipe :)

We ended up going to the BrewRidge festival with some friends on Saturday afternoon and then had a late dinner after a great afternoon nap.

Sunday was good, but went by too quickly, as always. Church, lunch, laundry, cleaning, prepping for the week…it was 10 pm last night before I knew it.

And this morning is busy!

Maggie is getting fixed today, so we have to go drop her off before breakfast.

My oatbran is cooking, and we’re on our way out the door.

What did you do this weekend?

What’s your favorite big weekend breakfast to make?

  1. My mom used to make a big breakfast with bacon, eggs, toast, biscuits, etc. I am torn between that and french toast or pancakes. :)

  2. I didn’t do anything special, I’ve been recovering from being sick!
We never make big breakfasts here at home. Cereal, breakfast sandwiches.. the usual! Breakfast is not, traditionally, a huge thing here in Portugal. A lot of people SKIP breakfast altogether. I just couldn’t do it now (but I used to!) :)

  3. I am not much of a biscuit girl (although yours look pretty, especially with the strawbs on the side!) but I loove me some waffles and pancakes! Weekend mornings just “feel” like pancakes to me.

  4. Biscuits are my favorite…yum!

  5. Your biscuits look fabulous–I think it’s great how you’ve gotten so into bread making! My dad always made overeasy eggs, toast, and his super homefries–yum!

  6. Those biscuits do look fab–I am going to try bread making for the first time next weekend, any advice? :) I seriously plan my weekend breakfasts way in advance because they make me so happy… really all types of pancakes! Love them. Wish I could have them every day. And this weekend I made Pizzert and it kind of rocked my world.

    • You’ll do great!

The thing I remind myself of every time is that a loaf of bread doesn’t have to look good to taste good :) My first few loaves weren’t very pretty, but they tasted amazing. And the more you do it, the better you get!

  7. I heard the real guy from the Blindside was disappointed they made him sound like he had no idea how to play football when he really did know how to play haha.

  8. When there’s a big brunch/breakfast planned, I love to have some sausage and egg casserole! My mom has the BEST recipe… or maybe it’s just because it comes from her… who knows!

  9. Aww, I hope Maggie’s surgery goes well.

I pretty much just worked this weekend, but had an awesome brunch with my mom and family yesterday.

Breakfasts are pretty minimal when I’m making them. Smoothies durin the week and oatmeal or eggs on the weekends. Nothing fancy.

  10. I ran 10 miles, discovered a new cupcake bakery and hung out with my mother in law!

My favourite big weekend breakfast is a full english: sausages, english bacon, baked beans, eggs, toast and fried mushrooms! With a cup of tea and some orange juice. Filling is one word for it…

  11. My favorite big breakfast is a spinach and feta omelet with rye toast.

I loved the movie and it made me want to go back and watch more college football although I still don’t get the rules and how they are different from NFL. I’ll have to reread your tutorials.

    • The GOOD thing is that there aren’t too many differences in the rules – or, most of them don’t make a huge difference when you’re watching the game, anyways. Can’t wait for football season!

  12. Oh Brandi! You and I are so alike when it comes to football. I’m pretty sure I commented on your last post that the only thing I didn’t like about The Blind Side was there wasn’t enough football. Amelia read the book and she said the book is majority football.

  13. It’s a tie between eggs and biscuits, and banana pancakes!! :)
Good luck with the pup today!

  14. Wow, those biscuits look heavenly lady! I am glad to see you unplugged a little over the weekend. I think my favorite weekend breakfast is the occasional pancakes or waffles but for some reason, I just wanted oats this weekend! This weekend I just spent time with the family and my man…it was all I wanted.

  15. oh that sauce on there looks divine girlie! thanks for the book recommendation..i have so many to add to my list. dont u wish we could read books as quickly as we go thru magazines! geesh lol xoxo <3

  16. I’m so glad you enjoyed your weekend! Yesterday was my mom’s birthday AND mothers day, so we went for a long hike just outside San Francisco and then out to dinner. My favorite big breakfast is coconut flour pancakes (gluten-free!) with lots of fruit on top! I hope you have a GREAT week!

  17. Those biscuits and gravy look Heavenly!!! I loved the Blind Side…such a great movie!

  18. i may just have to start making biscuits on the weekend! but i do like making pancakes, ever since i was a kiddie.

  19. Biscuits and gravy are a phenomenon I didn’t fully understand until I moved South…now it’s odd to see a breakfast menu that doesn’t include them!
