Movie of the Night

Tonight, I get to watch a movie I’ve been waiting to see.

foodinc

I got an email this week saying that Food, Inc. is premiering tonight on PBS!

You can check your local listings here to see what channel it will be on in your area.

It should be on a 9pm (Eastern), so if you haven’t seen it, you may want to check it out! Also, if you don’t have television access, you can watch Food, Inc. online (Food, Inc. will be streaming in its entirety from April 22 to April 29, 2010).

I’ve seen some great reviews of the documentary, but it never opened in theatres here so I didn’t get the chance to see it.

Since I’ve read so much about it and seen various clips, I don’t think I’ll surprised by anything in the film, but I’m really excited to see the entire film.

We just finished eating and are going to take Maggie on a long walk before we watch the movie tonight.

Dinner was great, so expect a recipe soon :)

Have you seen Food, Inc? What did you think of the film?

  1. Thanks for posting this! I still haven’t seen Food, Inc and I want to watch it so badly. I just dvr’d this!

  2. I’m debating watching it tonight. Part of my argument not to is I feel good about my relationship with meat and comfortable enough not to watch. But I also think it might be good to watch for reassurement. I guess it’s just one of those nights I wish I had tivo!

  3. Oh-so glad ou posted about this – I saw the commercial for it this past weekend and made a mental note to tune in tonight – but it totally slipped my mind (of course) until reading this. Thanks for the reminder!! I can’t wait to see it – I’ve been wanting to watch it for months! Hope I can stay away for the whole thing :P

  4. I watched it a while ago… I think I’m one of the only people who was neither shocked nor moved by it. Granted, I’m sure there are some people who are less knowledgeable about food who were shocked, and some who changed the way they ate. I, on the other hand, knew most of what was revealed due to years of living in central Illinois with farmers’ children. I’m interested to see what you think!

  5. I saw Food, Inc. and really enjoyed it! Although I also found that most of it was not new to me – having read Michael Pollan’s books and educated myself about industrial agriculture meant that a lot of the information was stuff I had heard before. But it was still very eye-opening; I thought it was very well-made. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

  6. Thanks for the info. I have set the DVR.

  7. I want to see it so bad! Checking the tv guide now… lol Thanks for the heads up!

  8. I really enjoyed it and felt that it was a fair representation of the agricultural industry since they showed both large scale farms and a smaller more ethical one. I think part of the reason I liked it so much was because my boyfriend watched it with me and I felt like he would benefit from watching it as well. Let us know what you think!

  9. I liked it a lot. It made me want to read more of Michael Pollan’s books and really helped me understand why I was getting so sick from regular food.

  10. I won a copy of Food Inc about 2 months ago but have not watched it yet. I have heard great things about it though, so I really need to find a time to sit down and finally watch it.

  11. I think for me, the movie just kind of drove home what I already knew by being able to see it first hand. Well, not quite first hand but you know what I mean. I think it did open my husbands eyes a little though because up until that point, he didn’t really care about the food we buy.

  12. Dang it–I missed it on TV! This movie looks so controversial, I am almost not postive if I want to see it–but I know it would be beneficial to how I look at food overall.

  13. GREAT MOVIE. Sure, like any movie, there’s a bit of propaganda… but if it works, and the Average Jane knows more about the conventional food industry, I’m all for it.

  14. I watched about half of it just a few days ago before my computer died on me. It’s nothing that I didn’t know, but it’s still pretty horrific to me. I’ve been vegetarian for a year and a half now, and I was cringing the whole time I watched it like I was watching a horror film or something.

  15. The movie made me become a vegetarian… haha
