3.2 for 32

The run was great!

There were SO many people out there today – probably over 6,000?

Before the race started, they released the balloons. 32 white ones in remembrance, and the rest were orange + maroon.

It turned out to be a beautiful morning, too.

The run was all around campus, which was fun, since we never run here.

And yes, we DID get to run in Lane Stadium :)

We actually got to run down the tunnel where the football players come out of before every game – SO EXCITING. Nick even told me this morning that I have a “football problem” – but I don’t think it’s a problem ;)

We touched the Hokie Stone above the entrance and ran into the stadium with “Enter Sandman” blaring (aka, the Hokies’ official football entrance song).

I even found the Hokie Bird on the run!

It was so much fun, and I’m happy Nick and I were able to participate in this event. There were people cheering all along the course, plus the music in the stadium, and bagpipes along the run, too.

After we finished, we headed to Our Daily Bread for some real breakfast!

I had some coffee, a feta breakfast sandwich (feta, egg, tomato, balsamic on whole grain bread) and some fruit salad.

The perfect way to fuel up for the work day ahead.

Even with all the sadness attached to this day, it was a great morning and an amazing way to remember what happened here and keep moving forward.

I wasn’t born here and I haven’t lived here all my life, but the Hokie Spirit is contagious once you ARE here. This community is so welcoming and supportive, and I’m so proud to be a part of it.

This isn’t something we’ll ever forget, but we can move on and learn from it.

Happy Friday!
