This is the best smoothie I’ve made so far!
All this warm weather has me craving cold breakfasts. I thought up this combo yesterday afternoon and just had to make it today.
Choco-Coco-Cherry Smoothie
- 1/3 cup dry oats (adds bulk + texture)
- 1 cup milk (almond, soy, skim, whatever you have)
- 2-3 cups spinach
- 1/4 cup frozen cherries
- 1 Tbsp unsweetened coconut (adds such great texture!)
- 1/2 Tbsp cocoa powder
I also had a hard boiled egg for a bit more staying power.
It’s going to be another busy day for me, and I need some sustenance to get through it!
Although I jinxed myself with this smoothie breakfast ;)
It’s only supposed to be in the 50s today! That’s closer to our normal spring weather, but it’ll feel chilly today compared to the temps we’ve had lately.
Cool or not – I’m just glad it’s Friday :)
Get a Recipe from Me!
So…one of the exciting things I’ve been working on lately is putting together this exclusive for you guys!
If you purchase any product from my OpenSky Shop during the month of April, you’ll also be getting a personalized recipe from me!
I’m so excited to be doing this – I love creating new recipes in the kitchen, and it will be fun to work WITH you to give you something you’ll enjoy and a recipe that may also work with an item from my shop!
And the best part is the recipe can be for anything.
A new smoothie mixture, a cool grain salad for warm spring days, or an awesome baked good. Maybe you want a one-pot wonder for a busy weeknight or a way to sneak more veggies into a dish for your kids. Whatever it is you’re looking for, I’m up for the challenge!
What’s your go-to place for recipes? Do you have a favorite cookbook or website you use?
I get a lot of recipe ideas from things I see on blogs, FoodNetwork, magazines (Cooking Light, Real Simple, Eating Well, Clean Eating, SELF, Fitness, etc), and websites like MyRecipes.
*Last chance to enter my giveaway for the Rachael Ray Dutch Oven! I’m picking a winner at lunch TODAY*

I love Eating Well, Cooking Light and Bon Appetite – other than that I use my family’s recipes. :)
I like Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, and I love getting my Taste of Home magazine in the mail. Other than that, most are from my Mom.
What a great idea!!!
Love that idea! I love smitten kitchen or allrecipes for some good ideas :-)
Oh! What a cool idea. Yay, Brandi! I love your recipes.
I either get recipes from blogs, or foodnetwork.com or rachaelray.com
This smoothie sounds wonderful! Very similar to one I’ve been having lately, but instead of oats and coconut I have Nutiva hemp smoothie powder and half a frozen banana. I’m going to have to try your recipe!
when i’m looking for recipes using a particular ingredient, i usually start at foodblogsearch.com :) yeah, they mostly come from blogs now!
Cooks Illustrated is great for recipes, although they aren’t always healthy.
My other go to: http://www.recipezaar.com – I love the comments people make to the recipes!
Pick me, pick me, pick me. No pressure! :D
Mmmm the smoothie sounds delicious! You know, I haven’t had a hard boiled egg in a REALLY long time and that’s lookin pretty good!
I enjoy trying recipes you post (having the barley/ham casserole at lunch today!), and – my all time favorite- allrecipes.com…
Thanks for a great barley recipe! (I LOVE barley!)
love the personalized recipe thing. fun. i use myrecipes.com a lot, too!
I get a lot of ideas from blogs :)
That smoothie sounds really good! We don’t have frozen cherries over here. It’s not cherry season yet so I can’t do that one!
I take recipe ideas from everywhere and tweak them for my needs. I love shaking things up.
A very neat addition to your OpenSky shop!
