Back At It

Nick and I had so much trouble getting up today! Not having sunlight is messing me up – I’m ready for it to be light in the mornings again.

But at least I’m feeling a little better.

I took a shower this morning instead of a bath like the last few days.

And I actually made something for breakfast.

My stomach still feels a bit off, but it’s definitely better than the last couple of days.

I toasted up one slice of wheatberry bread with a little olive oil spread and made a green smoothie to get some veggies in.

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2-3 cups spinach
  • 1/2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup frozen cherries

Plus some Irish Breakfast Tea – one of my favorites. I don’t think I can handle coffee yet, but hot tea sounded really good this morning.

I also tried some new almond milk this morning. I got a coupon from Kroger to try this new Silk PureAlmond Milk for free, so I picked it up last week to try.

It’s really good! I just wish they made an unsweetened version, too.

I’m off to work. Maggie has been a little nuts this morning, so we’ll see how she does today…

What’s your favorite non-dairy milk?

  1. We tried the Silk Almond Milk a couple of weeks ago and thought the same thing. My Husband liked it because it was so creamy and thicker like normal milk but I thought it was a little too sweet. I’m still undecided about how I feel about it. I normally stick with unsweetened Almond Breeze.

  2. Glad you are feeling better girl! I would love to try the Silk milk. Hopefully they are coming out with an unsweetened version. I love my Almond Breeze.

  3. I’m pretty addicted to my Unsweetened Almond Breeze and Silk Plain Light.

  4. Glad you’re better! Stomach bugs are NO fun at all… it takes days and days to get back to normal it seems :)

  5. Glad you are feeling better.

I like rice milk and almond milk. I also enjoy hemp milk but have not mastered the art of cooking with that yet. It always curdles.

  6. I am obsessed with blue diamond vanilla almond milk — I put it on EVERYTHING.

  7. Good to hear you’re feeling a little better…and I hear you on the mornings…this daylight savings thing has me totally thrown! I’m a fan of Almond Breeze unsweetened vanilla almond milk…it’s delicious! Have a good day – feel better!

  8. Good to heat you’re on the mend! I hope you feel 100% soon!! I’m an almond breeze girl – it’s delicious!

  9. The sunlight definitely messes with me too! :-( I’ve been wanting to try that milk to see how it compares to Almond Breeze–but I really like the vanilla flavor so not sure how’d I’d like the original.C

  10. I like unsweetened Almond Breeze and Rice milk. The dairy in regular milk messes with my stomach. But I don’t like sweetened alternative milks.

  11. My favorite non-dairy “milk” is definitely Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze. Mmm. Glad you’re feeling a little better!

  12. I actually really want to try that almond milk but i couldn’t find it! Glad you’re feeling better :-)

  13. I’ve had that almond milk and thought it was pretty good too. I bit cheaper than Almond Breez.

    Glad you’re feeling better!

  14. Ugh. The missing sunlight is horrible isn’t it?! I wake up thinking it’s the middle of the night…and it’s time to get up!

Have to say that I am totally ok with it though, because of the lovely long evenings!

  15. I thought that silk was a nice texture, and thick, but wayy too sweet :-(

  16. I am not even the least bit recovered from DST. :(

  17. I’m glad you’re feeling so much better!

I love almond milk and vanilla soy. I really want to try hemp!

  18. thanks for the review on that milk, i havent tried it yet. my fave is unsweetened vanilla almond breeze. good to hear you are feeling more normal(ish)!

  19. I love almond milk. I try to stick with unsweetened vanilla almond breeze but I’d love to try other varieties. Glad you are feeling a little bit better!

  20. FF vanilla soymilk if my favorite. My grocery store even has an organic store brand. I drink almond breeze sometimes too, but it just tastes like water to me. Hemp milk is pretty good too.

  21. Glad to see you’re feeling a little better! Stomach bugs are the worst.

I haven’t tried that brand of almond milk yet, but I like Almond Breeze’s almond milks. I usually get unsweetened vanilla or chocolate.

I also buy soymilk and we’re still trying to find a brand we like. I like Soy Slender, but it can be pricey. We usually buy the WestSoy kind. I tried the Publix-brand soy milk but it had a very strong “soy” taste that overpowered whatever you put it in. Recently I’ve tried Silk Light and like it a lot.

  22. I drink Silk Soymilk, and I just saw that they had an almond milk, so I was planning to try it. I’m so happy to hear it’s good… and I guess I’ll plan to use it in things I want sweet… not in my mashed potatoes. :)
