OIAC

Yesterday, when I was getting my smoothie ingredients out, I had 2 choices:

– Use the last of a jar of almond butter

– Use 1 Tbsp of my NEW almond butter

That was not a hard decision – that little discovery gave me breakfast today!

I had a little over 1 Tbsp of almond butter left in this jar, so I kept the rest of my breakfast simple.

  • 1/3 cup oatbran, 1 cup water, BIG pinch sea salt
  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • cinnamon

Yum. That extra big pinch of sea salt made this jar of oats. Since the almond butter itself was unsalted, I knew I would need a little more than normal to balance out the sweetness of the banana.

I also scooped out a little of the almond butter for the top before filling the jar – now I’ve got almond butter on both sides!

Even though it’s still chilly here, I had natural light this morning to take my pictures outside! Come on, Spring – finish melting that snow in my yard and let’s get on with it.

One of my favorite things about Oats in a Jar (OIAJ)?

They easily become Oats in a Car (OIAC)…I’m running late, so I’m taking this breakfast with me ;) Don’t worry – Nick drives, so I just get to sit, eat, and listen to K92.

Do you have any fun weekend plans?

  1. Mmmm, best breakfast ever!

This weekend is my best friend’s birthday AND my brother’s 25th birthday! Bring on the cake :)

  2. Love OIAJ. There is just something fun about eating out of a jar :)

  3. LOVE sea salt in my oats. It totally makes a difference. We are going to see Alice in Wonderland tonight!

  4. I’m with you on the sea salt, I just discovered what a huge difference it can make!

  5. I have yet to eat OAIJ. I am almost to the end of my peanut butter, though…Hmmm…might be a plan for tomorrow’s breakfast after my 4 mile run.

  6. i’ve never had oiaj before. mostly because i buy the industrial size pb jars and i don’t have a spoon long enough to dig in!

    • you can fake it! just put some nut butter in the bottom of your bowl and put oatmeal on top :)

  7. ah I love your portable breakfast. I’ve actually been known to bring a bowl of oats in my car.. gets messy!

  8. My friend is visiting campus today, and it’s technically my “weekend”, so I guess that’s them.
Those oats sound awesome. I always go for the almond butter with sea salt myself.

  9. OIAJ… what dreams are made of :D

  10. At least with your OIAC, you can throw the container away post-eating and not have to wash it out and take it back home!
We are going to try to see Avatar 3d (for like the umpteenth weekend in a row) and I’ll be working the Harlem Globetrotters show at ODU.

  11. oh yeah, i would imagine OIAC would be very convenient!
