Considering how our trip started, I wasn’t sure what to expect for the rest of the week.
Remember how I posted the morning we were leaving and said I’d post again from my parent’s house? Yeah.
That was the plan.
Our flight from Norfolk –> Philly was supposed to leave around 6 that evening and the flight to Madrid was leaving Philly at 9 pm. My dad got notice that our flight from Norfolk was going to be leaving 2 hours late, which means we would have missed our flight to Spain so we ended up getting on a 3:50 flight out of Norfolk.
Talk around running around like crazy!
My dad got the call that we could be put on the 3:50 flight while he was still at work, so around 1:30 that afternoon, my mom, sister, Nick and I scarfed down some sandwiches and got all the stuff ready. As soon as my dad got home, we packed up the car, said goodbye to my Mammaw, and hit the road to the airport.
It was SO crazy and rushed that I was singing “Run, Run, Rudolph” in the car – you know the scene from Home Alone :) It FELT that crazy.
BUT – we got the airport in time and that flight was delayed just a little, so we were able to catch our breath while waiting to board the plane.
The flight from Norfolk to Philly was only 45 minutes and went by pretty quickly.
We took some photos, checked out all the snow on the ground, and were in Philly before we knew it.
We ended up having about a 3 hour layover, but that worked out well since we had to get money changed over and take a shuttle to a different terminal.
Around 9 pm Thursday night, we were finally on way to Madrid!
I had to get proof that I actually went :)
And the plane from Philadelphia –> Madrid was the BIGGEST plane I’ve ever been on! I know it’s probably small compared to others, but this was the first 3 row plane I’ve been in, so I was excited.
After flying overnight, we landed in Madrid at 10 am (Madrid time) on Friday and the adventure began…

I don’t travel by plane that often, but I have an unnatural fear of missing my flight – so I usually get to the airport HOURS before I have to! :D
