Rough Start, Smooth Finish

This morning made me think it was going to be one of those Mondays – and not the good kind.

Want to know the worst ways to start your first Monday back to work after a vacation?

  • Have an oatmeal explosion in the microwave
  • Struggle to find an outfit to wear
  • Take your puppy out to go – in the rain – when she only wants to get snowballs to eat and not actually go to the bathroom

As we were leaving for work, I had a feeling that today was just going to be horrible. I was scared to open up my work email and start working through everything I missed, and, on top of that, I’m helping out with other things in the office this week so I knew it would just be crazy.

I ended up going into the office today instead of working from home like usual just for that reason – I wanted to make sure I got everything done and had the chance to catch up with coworkers.

Thankfully, things went pretty smoothly during the day! I was busy all day, but I got through my emails and was able to get some other things done today before leaving at 5.

The good thing?

Today ended in a good way.

  • We had a chiropractor appointment, which is by FAR my favorite doctor to visit
  • There were leftovers for dinner = quick + easy meal!
  • I have an awesome dessert to enjoy

After getting back from the chiropractor, I heated up the leftover buffalo joes, potatoes, and veggies for dinner.

The sloppy joes were even better tonight!

Along with an Amber Bock, it was the perfect Monday night meal. After my not-so-great morning and a crazy day at work, it was a good night for a beer with dinner.

I’m about to break into my dessert for tonight:

Nick and I took a short lunchtime trip to Our Daily Bread today (our favorite local bakery) and I got a Grasshopper Brownie.

I haven’t tasted it yet, but it smells amazing. And I’ve never had a bad experience with their baked goods :) Plus – chocolate + mint = one of my favorite things.

Another things that makes my nights?

This huge puppy! She grew SO much while we were gone!!! We weighed her when we got home, and she gained 2 pounds and is at least 2 inches longer/taller.

Not such a small puppy anymore…she can barely fit in my lap now.

Spain recaps are starting soon! I’m finally sorting through the pictures.

I’ve been trying to make it there for the past year ! I’ve heard such wonderful things about the place. The picture of that grass hopper brownie might be all the motivation I need to make the drive… and it is a pretty drive ! Maybe I’ll save it for a pretty day.
