Lunch + Blog Scheduling

The delay this morning certainly was nice, but I was secretly hoping for a full day off :) I just feel like we still have SO much to do to get ready and leave tomorrow after work, and another day off would have helped. Oh well – that just leaves more stuff to do tonight + tomorrow!

Lunch today + tomorrow will probably be quick because we still have a few errands to run before leaving (getting money for the trip, cancelling Roxy’s reservation, picking up the right size ziploc bags, etc).

It’s a good thing we had leftover soup – Nick and I both packed some today since that was the only “hot lunch” option in the fridge.

I had a serving of the black bean soup with the last of the avocado and some broccoli from last night’s dinner.

Lots of green :)

Operation “back to basics” for this week is going well – it’s also helping me eat more of what we have rather than buying more food right now. I don’t want anything to go to waste before we leave on the trip!

Blog Scheduling…

This trip to Spain will definitely change my normal blogging schedule.

However…my dad is actually taking one of those mini-computers, so I should be able to blog! I’m excited about that because I know I’ll have tons of pictures and things to share with friends and family back home.

When I can’t put a post up, I do have some guest posts lined up, but I need a little help.

How do I set them up to post at a certain time in case I can’t physically go online and hit “publish”? I thought I had it set up right on our trip to Honduras, but then they never posted on their own, so I had to publish a few and wait to do the rest later.

Help?

and, for fun –

What’s your food philosophy on trips? Eat authentic foods and not worry about anything? Try to stick to what you normally eat when you can?

I know it might be different for people who have food allergies, etc, but I seriously just want to eat my way through Spain :) This may be my only time to travel there, and I want to get as much local fare as possible.

  1. Oh absolutely, embrace the culture! Eat where the locals eat. You will never regret that!

I’m so excited for you! Bon voyage and have a wonderful time.

Spain is SO on my short list of places to go.

  2. When I’m on vacation, I tend to try at least a bite of everything! haha I think it’s fun to enjoy yourself. You can always get back on track when you get home. Plus, you’ll be walking tons!!!

  3. Have a great time!
    Eat anything you want!
Good luck with your blog issues.

  4. Yay, so excited that you will be able to blog while you are away!

I am self hosted but the wordpress platform is the same in that regard, I believe. If you go to the post and look on the right where it says “publish immediately edit” if you click on edit, you should be able to put in when you want it to publish and then click schedule. Maybe test it out with tonights and tomorrows posts?

  5. Try it all. They eat family style alot so you can watch your portions.

On wordpress if you hit edit next to the part where it says schedule immediately you can change the date and time. I always do that since i write mine the night before to post the next morning. You can schedule days and weeks in advance.

  6. Follow Christie. It’s set in military time – so be aware of that. I always have to look up military times :)

  7. Definitely eat the local food! That is part of the experience. Just try to watch portions and you can worry about it when you get back ;-)

  8. By all means, eat authentic!! I am so much more adventurous the older I have gotten.

Sorry I can’t help you on the computer question – I barely know how to do mine! :D

  9. Yep…I agree. You should enjoy yourself and taste whatever you feel like.

  10. You are going to have such a fabulous time! And I can’t wait to see the pics. :) On foreign vacations, I definitely eat the local food – I figure that it’s worth the experience AND all the walking will take care of any overeating. ;)

  11. 100% eat culturally. you will never get the chance to do eat authentically here in the US (or at least as good as in the country). go for it and enjoy :)

if spain is anything like my trip to france then worrying about local fare is silly because we walked everywhere!! so it was lots of crepes haha

  12. Oh you totally have to eat your way through Spain – on a trip like that you would be crazy not too, Spanish cuisine is amazing!!!!

  13. Live it up! Eat what you want, when you’re hungry, and stop when you are full. Try everything, because like you said, you may never get another chance. You are going to have a wonderful time! Can’t wait to hear all about it.

  14. You know, I say live it up! You never know when you’ll get another opportunity like this again and you should experience it all to the fullest, concerning food and beyond! :-)

  15. Already looking forward to the pictures and have lots and lots of fun :-) and be safe!

  16. Have a great time on your trip!!! that black bean soup look absolutely divine!!

  17. Definitely try out the authentic food! You’ll never know a) what you’ll discover b) when you’ll be back again!

  18. ahh I can’t wait for your posts a la spain!

  19. Have a wonderful trip! And I think good, real food is such a big part of any trip… :) I try to eat healthy but allow myself one extra “treat” per meal, like a dessert, or bread, or wine. That way I feel like I’m indulging a bit more than usual without going overboard. I also make sure to eat enough fruits and veggies (something I often fall short on on trips…).

Again, have a wonderful time!!! :)

  20. Do you post through Windows Live Writer? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen an option on there to set a post time.

  21. Your fork/spoon looks ridiculously exciting to me :-D

  22. Sounds like you are going to have an exciting trip!! Why are you cancelling your reservation for your cat… where is she going??

  23. So glad you will be able to blog some on your trip!

And good luck with last minute prep, I’m sure it will all go smoothly :) I say enjoy authentic foods, things that are a “once in a lifetime” experience. I do try to eat as healthfully as possible because I want to physically feel my best on vacation, but I aim to try new things at the same time.

  24. The bloggies already responded with the time delay answer BUT as far as the eating goes – do it up! You’ll be walking a lot and you never know when you’ll get spoiled with the authentic eats again! When I travelled to Europe, I was able to maintain my usual meal (typically had two pieces of toast with spread, coffee, and fruit) but the rest of the day I ate whatever. Twas delicious :)

  25. Ohh you HAVE to take advantage of all the food there!

Please please eat your way through Spain and then post all the pics. :D

  26. Hey hon!! So excited about your trip. When I vaca I make sure to try all foods I havent before. I love experimenting with new things. Plus local food is always the best. So tasty! I hope you have a wonderful time!
