Made Overnight

It’s Friday! Who’s ready for the weekend?

I’m crossing my fingers this storm isn’t too bad, but I’m pretty sure we’ll be waking up to snow tomorrow morning.

For breakfast today, I had something I haven’t had in a while.

Overnight oats!

Last night, I mixed:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Greens+ Chia Seeds

I let that sit in the fridge overnight, and then added the rest this morning:

  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup plain Oikos
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 Tbsp peanut butter

I love overnight oats, but I normally can’t even think about them during the winter! I just like having hot breakfasts when it’s so cold outside.

It just sounded so good last night, and at least I had some hot coffee with my cold oats :)

Off to work!

Do you change your breakfasts based on the seasons? Or do you eat the same things all year long?

  1. I typically change with the seasons but do love a mid season switch up from time to time :D

We are supposed to get 10 inches here!

  2. Yay for Friday! So ready for the weekend…! I definitely change breakfasts with the seasons…warm oatmeal and eggs in the winter – fruit and yogurt and smoothies in the summer!

  3. My breakfast changes day to day, doesn’t really matter on the season!

  4. My breakfasts change day to day, but the seaons have pretty much no effect on the hot/cold scale. I will not, however, eat pumpkin outside of October or eggnog outside of December.

  5. Yeah, during the winter oatmeal sounds amazing, during the summer… not so much. Who wants to be around the stove when it’s so hot?

  6. Sometimes I pick it based on the temps (i.e. oats if it’s super cold) but I am also a creature of habit and stick to the same thing pretty often.
On another note, I can never get my overnight oats to work! :-(
On yet ANOTHER note, I wrote that post, and am not sure how to get all the pics to work in any format other than wordpress. Is there a way I can send it to you through here? :-P

  7. I’m pretty much a cereal all year long kind of girl….sometimes I mix it up with oats when it gets really cold :-)

  8. I definitely tend to eat oatmeal during the winter, and then I’ll switch to fruit, yogurt, and granola in the warmer months.

  9. Well, during the winter, I’m not attracted to cold breakfasts, like smoothies, overnight oats, yogurt with fruit. But I love hot oatmeal throughout the year :))

  10. I used to eat oatmeal in the winter, and cereal during the summer, but then I got so addicted to oats I eat them year round :)

  11. i usually eat oats in the winter then cold cereal in other months. sometimes i’ll eat cereal when it’s cold but i have to have just been doing something where my blood is warm or else i’m too darn cold

  12. Beautiful overnight oats!

I’m a cold cereal girl all year round

  13. I eat basically the same things. I probably eat MORE oatmeal in the winter to warm up, but I also eat a lot of cold things. I’m going to try these overnight oats tonight/tomorrow morning. I’m nervous! Haha. :) Have a good day!

  14. I just discovered good ol overnight oats. I typically have more cereal in the summer, but that’s it really. I pretty much stick to oats – hot, cold, b-cookie form or toast.

  15. I usually eat the same things year round (pumpkin in the summer…ice cream in the winter…)
    Happy Friday!

  16. I am more than ready for the weekend! And what a great way to make the cold weather a tad more bearable with overnight oats!! I pretty much eat the same thing all year, what can I say..I am a creature of habit in the am!

  17. I have to say, my meals don’t really change with the seasons. But my snacks do! There’s nothing better than watermelon in the summertime :-)

  18. I have been living off of overnight oats as of late — I love knowing that while i’m sleeping my breakfast is prepping itself :) happy day to you, Brandi!

  19. Yeah for friday but boo for snow. We got a bunch yesterday.

I tend to eat the same thing all year long. Maybe a bit less oatmeal in the summer on really hot days but pretty much the same thing. Next week I’m going to shake it up because I’m getting pretty bored.

  20. I don’t discriminate against cold breakfasts during the winter…overnight oats are one of my favorites year-round! That pb on top looks divine :)

  21. I totally change with the season! I cannot bring myself to make a morning smoothie even if I am craving it. The cold would just chill me to the bone. I usually stick to oats, waffles, pancakes and I have found a new love in toasted Quinoa for breakfast!

  22. gah, i miss overnight oats! those are a summer staple for me!

  23. i havent had overnight oats in ages but i like them in the summer! i dont really eat saesonally but i do love to BBQ in the summer!

  24. I eat more fruit in the summer and often have fruit for breakfast. My “normal” breakfast is oatmeal, and I have it at least a few times a week year-round… :)

    Happy weekend! :)
