Stuffed Up

Okay, I still can’t breathe :\

I slept pretty well, but woke up feeling just as bad as I did yesterday. I’m scheduled to work from home today, which is nice, but I’m not sure how long I can sit at the computer if I’m feeling like this all day.

Nick made coffee using his awesome coffee syphon this morning and offered to make me bacon and eggs, but all I could think about was a big bowl of comforting oatmeal.

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 cup water, pinch salt
  • 1 small local apple
  • cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp sliced almonds
  • 1 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp butterscotch chips (the last of the bag!)

This was pretty good – I can actually taste the butterscotch, so that’s nice. Other than that, nothing else really tastes like anything.

Good thing the coffee is nice and strong :)

Maybe she’ll help me feel better today – at least she’s cute  ;)

What do you do when you have a bad head cold?

All I want to do is lay down, but that seems to make it even harder to breathe.

  1. Sorry you are still sick, Bran. I don’t usually get colds but I have a ton of experience with sinus infections. I just try to sleep :/

  2. sorry to know that you have cold. My best medicine is sleep for 10 hours and drink hot tea!
    get well soon! :)

  3. Oh no hope you feel better super fast!! That’s a good looking bowl of oats you have there :) I always try to drink lots of warm liquids because they’re comforting and my theory is they help melt the snot out. yup, that was lovely I know.

  4. Hope you feel better girl! I usually take the day off, but I swear by Advil Cold and Sinus every few hours. It feels like I’m not even sick!

  5. I actually like to go for a short run when I am sick. It usually makes me feel better.

  6. Sorry you’re feeling icky – eat lots of spicy foods! That usually decongests me (is that even a word? Haha!).

  7. boo for being sick! hope youre feeling better soon

  8. I’m going to second the Advil Cold and Sinus. Works wonders! Your little pup is getting bigger already! It’ll be fun to be able to look back at all of your pictures when she’s full grown.

  9. great oats! they look amazing. sorry you are still feeling ill! when I am sick, I use a lot of vix vapor rub, take warm showers, drink tea, and sleep! hope this helps!

I’d recommend 2 things to help – Theraflu tea and puppy love :)

  13. When I’m sick all I want to do is lay down and watch a LOT of TV. A few years ago when I had some sort of insane killer flu I watched the entire series of Felicity in like a week! ;)

I hope you feel better soon! Get lots of puppy cuddles in today, that will make you feel better.

  15. Have you tried breathin over a tea kettle? It’s an old trick but I hear it works wonders

  16. Rest, hot drinks, and my secret weapon…..nose spray! I use the 12 hour kind. It opens my nose right away and if I can breathe, then I can cope with the rest. Take care.

  17. I love TheraFlu!!! Hot liquids, plenty of liquids, rest, and extra pillows so you aren’t lying flat!!!

  18. I’m sorry you’re sick hon. Take Mucinex. I swear by it.

i hope you feel better dear brandi…i think resting, drinking tea, eating a BRAT diet (bread, rice, apples, bananas) to be easy on the digestive system and sleeping are all good! advil cold + sinus doesn’t hurt either :)
