Good, Bad, and Green

Good:

I got a good night of sleep last night. I don’t remember hearing my alarm, and I woke up just feeling rested.

I stayed up to watch White Collar…Nick did not  :) He and Maggie were cuddling on the couch, and he just couldn’t keep his eyes open.

Bad:

My throat is still hurting, my head is congested, and I just feel blah.

Work today is going to be just as nuts as yesterday – maybe more!

Green:

Since it seems this cold is hanging around, I wanted something super healthy for breakfast.

Yesterday at lunch, Nick and I went to Our Daily Bread and I bought one of their vegan Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins. I never got hungry enough to eat it yesterday so I decided to save it for breakfast.

The green is a green smoothie! I haven’t had one in a long time, mostly because I’m not really fond of cold breakfasts in the winter. Today, however, it just sounded perfect.

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 4-5 ice cubes
  • 1/2 banana
  • 3-4 cups spinach
  • 1/3 cup orange juice

Let’s hope all these greens will help!

  1. I always go for fruit and nutbutter . . . it is my go-to snack!

  2. Baby carrots are my favorite food. I realize that they are kind of not that impressive but eating them instead of chips is pretty healthy :)

I just discovered Green Smoothies or aka Green Monsters! I add vanilla protein powder to mine for more staying power. The key to mine is not to use ice and to use frozen banana instead.

  21. Hope you feel better Brandi – I must be the last food blogger on earth who hasn’t tried a green monster!!

Every other day I eat 1 square of Lindt red chili dark chocolate – so good!

  22. I hope those greens make you feel better soon!

  23. I’m sorry you are still feeling sick. I hope the cold helped. I know that hot tea helps me too.

I love green monsters and I love my version of microwave apple crisp…just microwave an apple with cinnamon, some almont butter and low sugar granola.

  24. Green smoothies with kale, soymilk, a banana, and frozen berries are my go to health snack.
