S’mores and Salads

To celebrate my one year anniversary of the blog, I made some S’mores for breakfast!

  • 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, pinch salt
  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • cinnamon – the last of it!!!
  • 1 Tbsp dark chocolate peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp fluff
  • 1 Tbsp graham cracker crumbs

Definitely the best way to start today :)

Maggie thinks so, too!

She has not been the best puppy today…no big problems, but she’s not sleeping as much as she did a few weeks ago which makes it hard for me to sit and get work done.

I’ve taken her out about 8 times already, and a few times were just because she wanted to play, not go to the bathroom. Oh, the life of a puppy! If I could just stay home and play with her, I would – I’m sad that work gets in the way :)

She’s actually passed out at my feet right now. About 20 minutes ago, she was going crazy again, just running circles as fast as she could, grabbing toys and them throwing them down again, and I guess she wore herself out pretty fast. I wish I had a video camera so I could catch the craziness in action!

For lunch, I just couldn’t stop thinking about this salad that I had the other day!

  • romaine
  • corn
  • carrots
  • avocado
  • red onion
  • black bean burger
  • salsa
  • salty corn chips

I just had to recreate it for lunch. Those black bean burgers just call to me from the freezer!

I’m going to finish eating and take her on a walk around the neighborhood during my lunch break. Let’s hope that burns off a little energy ;)

What’s your  favorite freezer meal / item? Veggie burgers, pizzas, burritos? I need to find some good things like that to keep stocked for easy meals.

I love to put jam on a toasted piece of bread with a salty cheese. The contrast is incredible and makes a great breakfast!

Congrats Ladies! Send me your addresses so you can get your jam!

  1. Bran Appetit has only been around for a year?! I feel like you’ve been around forever (I mean that as a compliment!) :)

Those are some DANG good looking smores oats – can you make some for me? :)

  2. Oh yay! I can’t believe I won! :)

  3. Yum, those smores oats look awesome!

I like to make bean burgers and freeze them ahead of time. Makes for really easy lunch or dinner.

  4. Mmm smores…! I usually keep some veggie burgers and chicken breasts in the freezer. Also – when I make soup I freeze it in 2 serving-ish containers so I can always grab that in a pinch!

  5. I like veggie burgers, which you can eat on a bun or crumble on a salad. Good brands are gardenburger or wildwood(these are actually refrigerated)

  6. Congrats on the one year of blogging! That’s seriously awesome. I’ve always wanted to make s’mores oats. S’mores are probably my favorite dessert EVER!

  7. My favorite freezer item is is probably ice cream. I really like So Delicious. Mmmm… Real dairy ice cream just kills my stomach, and this stuff is a great alternative.

  8. Happy anniversary! Love your breakfast bowl and your cute puppy : )

  9. I never win these things…I’m so surprised.

I tend to keep TJ’s Chile Lime Chicken Burgers and Boca Flame grilled burgers in my freezer for quick meals. I also like the TJ’s sausages that can be used in so many ways.

  10. I Love the s’mores oats!! Looks so good!

  11. Looks like the best.oatmeal.ever.

  12. I dont believe anything you say about Maggie!
    She looks so innocent.

    ;)

  13. I actually love baking stuff and then freezing it, especially muffins! They defrost SO well….

  14. Happy one year! That s’mores creation looks delish. My favorite frozen food item would also have to be the veggie burgers, or steamed veggies.

  15. Your pup is ADORABLE!!!

We have been jonesing for a new pup to fill the void left when we lost our “first born”, but ya know what- thinking about how much time you spend taking the pup out, cleaning up after accidents, dealing with the high energy bursts, training, and the amount of shoes deemed chew toys….well….maybe I will just live vicariously through your little one :)

    Tortilla chips + salad = best.topping.EVER!

  16. Wow all of that food looks SO GOOD. (Having Fluff in my house is dangerous, I can devour a whole jar in a shameful amount of time.)

  17. I love the idea of Smore’s oats! Yum!
