Opposites = Balance

Thanks for all the notes, guys! I’ve loved seeing every comment come in today, and I have tons of new books to read! Plus, some of the comments reminded me of books I have read that I loved, so now I want to read them again.

This afternoon was pretty good. Maggie actually behaved for the most part – we played for a bit after lunch, but then she snuggled down beside me again and let me work for the rest of the afternoon while she napped. Nick played pretty hard with her last night, and I think it just wore her out completely.

At 5, I put Maggie in her kennel with her first half of dinner while I did a 20 minute detox flow from yogadownload.com  – it was perfect for today! Lots of deep twists and pigeons :) My hips have been really sore lately from sitting on the floor, indian style, so much to play with Maggie and all the poses today felt great.

Dinner was supposed to be leftovers, but once Nick suggested  the New River Grille, I was in :)

…and since I had so many veggies at lunch, I figured I could balance it out with my favorite burger + onion rings tonight :)

Salads are the complete opposite of a burger/fried onions, right? The perfect balance for today! At least this food is local!

Now I’m in my pajamas on the couch and Nick and Maggie are playing on the floor right beside me.

Life is good.

  1. Oh man I haven’t had onion rings in forever… I am drooling over here!

  2. i love onion rings!!!

  3. Hey girl! Made the strata for dinner tonight, I loved it and The Man did too!!! Why haven’t I made one of these before seriously?! Enjoy your night :)

  4. Those onion rings look like they hit the spot! I haven’t had them in so long but there’s a restaurant by me that makes KILLER onion rings – now I’m craving them!!

  5. wow i had totally forgotten all about onion rings it’s been that long since i last had them

  6. I love onion rings. YUM!

P.S. got your package today, thanks so much! :)

  7. If you’re eating bad food, but it’s local, it totally balances out :-) I’m going to have to get my meat fix this weekend with some grass fed local steak

  8. Salad for lunch equals a slightly more indulgent dinner :) Plus you had more veggies on the burger and “onion” rings. And local food is always a plus. Reading your posts make me miss Blacksburg!!

I also highly recommend spaghetti squash. It’s also delicious with chickpeas, roasted red peppers, broccoli, and balsamic vinegar!

  9. Holy onion rings! Those look so luscious!

  10. I love your food balancing logic. I completely agree! :)

  11. Those onion rings look perfect…crispy and light. I miss onion rings from the diner near seminary.

  12. oh man..been too long since ive had a burger ! this is a sign that i need one!

  13. I know I’m a little late but:
    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to your blog!!!
