Weirdest Road Trip Snack Yet

Today, I had my strangest road trip snack yet. I won’t say ever, because I’m not sure what the future holds, but this is a first.

I had some leftover broccoli and the last of my kabocha squash and I didn’t want to throw it away. I heated it up in the office right before we left and ate with the car window open so it wouldn’t smell like broccoli  :)

It was good snack and held me over until we got here for dinner.

I had a Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier with dinner. This was my first time trying this one – it was good, but I think I like their cherry wheat better.

Nick’s parents busted out their little fry daddy and made homemade regular and sweet potato fries! The sweet potato fries were awesome.

We had some ground turkey/bison meatballs that Nick’s mom made, the fries, and some salad with greens, almonds, dried cherries, scallions, and cucumber.

and then came the carrot cake.

She bought this from the Amish market here, and it was probably the best carrot cake I’ve had. The cinnamon and ginger in this were perfect, and the icing was super sweet.

Now that I’m officially in a bit of a sugar coma, it’s time for bed.

We have an early day tomorrow – I’m making my winning french toast for everyone and, if it’s not raining, we’re going to ride their new horses that just got dropped off today!

Nite  :)
