Known For

First – that Ben & Jerry’s Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream?

IMG_6399

Delicious, creamy, and spicy – and really good with my last pumpkin spice truffle on top  ;)

I think this is why I don’t buy ice cream very often. The gingersnap ice cream is already gone (Nick didn’t eat any of it) and now I’ve already broken into this one. It’s like once I open it up, I can’t stop!

Are you happy it’s Friday? I am.

I actually have a meeting today from 9-11, so I knew I needed a good breakfast to get me through it.

Eggs?

Oatmeal?

Finally just an entire chocolate bar slathered in peanut butter? I’ll tuck that idea away for another time.

I actually had a hard time coming up with what I wanted, which was kind of sad since my only real choice was oatmeal. I used the last of our eggs yesterday, so oatmeal is it.

I made more pumpkin oatmeal, but just kept thinking I should have saved that truffle for this morning!!! I guess oatmeal can only be so decadent, right?

This morning’s mix was:

  • 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, pinch salt
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin
  • cinnamon
  • TJ’s nuts over raspberries trail mix

I got the funniest note from my little sister yesterday, and I wanted to share.

Remember that she and her husband are in Spain? We’re keeping in touch, mainly through Facebook/email, and this message just cracked me up when it showed up in my inbox.

Hey, James and I went to Mulligan’s (an Irish pub in Spain, go figure) this afternoon to get coffee, and they were playing Mika! So, naturally I thought of you. I miss you!”

I guess I made her listen to our Mika cd a lot  :)  It’s great, if you haven’t heard it; he sounds amazingly like Freddie Mercury from Queen.

I loved the note because they’re in Spain, but going to an Irish Pub…and that Mika made her think of me! I miss you too Tiff!

I realize she’s one of my sisters and she knows a lot about me, but I have things like this happen all the time. I’ll see something or hear something and automatically think of a family member, one of my friends, or someone I’ve known in my life.

And I love finding out what people know me for, what things remind them of me. I love it even more so when it’s something totally random like hearing music in a pub in another country.

That note made my day.

What are you known for? Anything?

Are there things that people say to you a lot or things that people give you or send you because it reminds them of you?

P.S: If you’re reading, Dad, I miss you! I hope you’re having a great trip!

  1. That breakfast look yummy. And I’m not even gonna talk about the ice cream. :P
I don’t really know what I’m known for. I think it depends on the person. :)

  2. I went to Wegman’s last night specifically for Ben & Jerry’s Gingersnap & Pumpkin Cheesecake – they didnt have either flavor!!!!!!!!!!! arrrrrrrrrgh.

I’m baking my famous molasses cookies tonight and they taste AMAZING with pumpkin ice cream sandwhiched between them!

  3. So cool your sister thinks of you even though she’s far away!!

  4. I know exaaactly what you mean with the buying ice cream situation… I cant buy it!! My Ben & Jerry’s froyo was bought AND demolished in a mere 4 days… ummmm??? enjoyed it to the max but still, I think that says “addiction” haha… Happy Friday !! The oats look incredible as always :)

  5. Apparently I’m associated with books, even though I don’t read much (the last time I cracked open a book for recreation was at least a year ago!) Every Christmas at the acting in-law’s Secret Santa event I get books which I still haven’t opened, and the other day I received a note from my college roommate: “Today was the anniversary of Jane Eyre’s publication, and I thought of you!”

    Maybe it’s the glasses.

  6. That oatmeal looks amazing. And we had a pint of that B&J Pumpkin Cheesecake in our house too this past week… it didn’t last long. SO good. :)

Old college friends remember me for my travel lust (I needed to get out of town every weekend and I was always good for a spur-of-the-moment trip). My family knows me as being some sort of overly sympathetic, bleeding heart liberal (which, in comparison to them, I guess I am ;) )… and some people from grade school remember me for playing an upright bass in my school’s orchestra. Of course, that wasn’t always the only context in which I knew people and I didn’t even take that role in my life that seriously… but apparently that thing in particular made an impression on a lot of people, because I’m asked about that quite a bit.

  7. oh gosh, there are so many things that reference me to think of friends/family/fun times and music is definitely one of them… so many songs that my sis and i hear on cruises together that bring me back to those happy memories and i love it!

yummmmy pumpkin oats, i had some too this morning!! :)

  8. The ice cream sounds sooo good; I don’t blame you for lot of being gone already… ;)

    Great breakfast! Happy Friday! :)

  9. I have never had a pumpkin spice truffle, but it sounds amazing.

  11. Wow, that looks like the best dessert ever! Pumpkin AND cheesecake flavor? My favorites!

And that’s so cute! I’m known for being the harpist and the fitness buff. lol

  12. I seriously think I’m getting a name for myself at the gym as the boy who puts on Cartoon Network. At 7am, I just don’t feel like watching something as heavy as CNN, so who’s to blame me for getting a little cartoony? :-)

  13. Oh my, that pumpkin ice cream looks heavenly. I can’t keep ice cream in the house either…

  14. i worked at baskin robbins on and off for like 7 years. that killed my ability to eat large quantities of ice cream. a blessing if there ever was one.
haha i’m know for shopping with coupons-my family saves ’em for me… and i’m know for wearing skirts-i’ve had someone, in the middle of class, yell “kalin’s wearing pants!” because they were so shocked that i was…

  15. Man that ice cream looks heavenly!

A lot of my friends know about the blog, so many people send me stuff about blogging or healthy food or not so healthy food or restaurants :)

Like when the new regulations came out recently, I got a bunch of emails all saying the same thing.

  16. I’ve never had pumpkin ice cream, but boy does it look awesome!

If I’m known for anything, it’s for my love with the group Hanson. No lie.

  17. Oh man…I need to get my hands on that ice cream. I’m trying SO hard to make my Gingersnap last. I’m not doing too badly at it either! I may have to stock up before the limited batch is gone :D

yumm yum your oatmeal looks so creamy and good!

  18. your oats look amazingly delish!
have you ever put ice cream in your coffee before?
its amazing.. that pumpkin icecream would be perfect in coffee( yes hot coffee.. it melts, gets creamy, and delicious )
i always do it with soy chocolate ice cream. its like a mocha!

  19. I’m the same way with ice cream. Once I buy it I eat it pretty much constantly until it’s gone.

I don’t know if I’m known for anything… good question!

  20. among my friends I’m known as “the yogini” my friends all think i’m super zen and there always “ohmmmming” around me.. so cruel!

  21. I can’t even think about buying ice cream because it disappears quickly.

People often associate me with healthy stuff. In fact at our funny superlatives from Seminary I was named the Health educator :-)

  22. I had Dairy Queen last week so I OBVIOUSLY thought of you! I miss you!!

  23. What a GREAT idea to put the truffle on the ice cream! I’m the same way with IC (and cookies…and candy!). I just try not to keep it around, but once in awhile, I NEED it. :-)

  24. Trying to catch up, things are going good, hard to get this time difference down it is 4:00 am Sunday morning here, the Tech game comes on at 8:00 am, the Texas/Oak game is on right now, keep the post coming, see you in a couple of weeks for the big game, Go Hokies
