Fruit Bowl

Thank you, thank you for all your feedback! I will (more than likely) be having some sort of Friday Football post, but I’m still working on the details – it will be fun!

Ever since I bought this little cantaloupe last weekend at the farmer’s market, this breakfast has been on my mind.

I mixed up some muesli last night to have in my cantaloupe bowl this morning:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2 Tbsp or so water
  • 1/2 Tbsp chia seeds from Greens+
  • vanilla extract
  • cinnamon
  • pinch of salt

Then this morning, I stirred a spoonful of yogurt into the muesli mixture, put it in my cantaloupe 1/2 and topped with 1 Tbsp pecans and a sprinkle of coconut.

This cantaloupe was the perfect size for this breakfast!

I just went outside to feed Roxy breakfast and it is chilly! I think it’s only in the high 40s this morning. It’s like fall showed up all of a sudden this week.

Do you like melons? I actually use to hate them…I just didn’t think they had enough flavor and that they tasted like water. Turns out, I had just never had a good one  :)

  1. Happy Thursday, Brandi! Yeah, it’s cold here too… and wet :(

I love melon! Especially canteloupe- I’ve never tried it with oats/cereal though. Looks delicious!

  2. 40s!!!! EEEEK! I hope it warms up a bit in the VIRGINNNY cause I have a family camping trip coming up the 25th in that state and homegirl does not do COLD+CAMPING well.

  3. Mmm, I love melons!
    That breakfast looks terrific!

  4. Um.. I want to eat my computer screen. Your breakfast looks awesome!!

  5. I love canteloupe or honeydew, but agree it has to be in season and juicy to taste amazing!

  6. Hi Brandi,

Just when you get me hooked on one breakfast…..
you go and post another fabulous looking concoction!

    Love melons, too.

  7. unfortunately I do NOT have the taste for canteloupe- something about the flavor turns me off. oddly enough I do like honeydew!

  8. Cantaloupe is actually one food that makes me gag :-( I like no types of melons. Oh well!

  9. Melon is one of those things that can be absolutely awful out of season . . . like those anemic tomatoes you see on pre-made salads in the off season!

  10. Yummie!!! I love muesli too… ;)
About those melons! I used to looooove them, couldn’t have enough of them… But lately I just don’t crave them… So I didn’t buy too many this summer! But I’m certain the love will come back! ;)

  11. wooooo!!! that’s a fantastic idea to have oats and fruit!!! :D love the bowl idea!~

  12. I love what you did with the cantaloupe! I usually just put cottage cheese inside…this is way more fun! And yea I LOVE any kind of melon really!

  13. coconut and pecans go so well in so many things: pancakes, berry crisps, muffins, cookies, and apparently oatmeal! never thought of that. they are staples in my kitchen now.

Ohh…sorry to hear it’s so cold. that’s just not right! but i guess to every season there is an end. sigh.

  14. OMG that is so fun! I want one of those.

    I might make that tomorrow.

  15. I used to love Cantaloupe but now I don’t really like it. I think I overdid it. But I do love honeydew. I buy them and eat them a half at a time. So yummy!

I hear you about the weather. But I love it because it feels like football! I was in the high school marching band and I loved when it got cool enough that it was nice to wear our uniforms and when I could bring my Band quilt to the games. Thanksgiving game was the best :-)

  16. o girl you know how much i love my melons! haha. I want to try the half melon with yogurt mess…so yum!!!!

can’t wait till you start your football posts! yay

  20. 40s?!?!?! NOT FUN! I love melon, but lately have been getting weird allergic reactions to it. I was always so proud to have no food allergies, it’s a bummer.

  21. That looks absolutely delish! I LOVE melons. My town in Ukraine was known for growing the best watermelons ever, so I ate a lot of those :)

  22. ye breakfast sound delish!! yummm!!

  23. i actually DONT like cantaloupe or honeydew, but i do love me some watermelon!

  24. true story: I do NOT like melons! They give me a headache (though that may be my imagination?) I don’t know why :( they’re such a pretty fruit! I do loveeeee watermelon though.. does that count?

  25. I only eat melons once in a blue moon. I think a big part of the problem is I hate cutting them up. Yes, I’m lazy.

  26. ooo that looks amazing!
