Mini Migraine

Uh oh – I feel one coming! Just during lunch a small headache is starting to pop up. That just will not do. Any get rid of headache fast tips?

Breakfast this morning was good, good, good. I missed my eggs.

eggs + oatbran

Plus some of our last cherries + strawberries

berries

Plus some coffee at work.

Work was busy this morning, and I actually got hungry around 11:30, but I didn’t want to ruin my lunch so I chugged some water to hold out until Nick got here right around noon.

I had some of the enchilada pasta I made this weekend – so good! I’ll post the recipe soon, promise!

Plus some leftover roasted broccoli from last night.

I’m hoping this food, water, and caffeine from the coffee will kick in and get rid of this headache, but we’ll see.

I think everything is going ahead with the truck! The guy is picking it up tonight, so just a few last things to do.

I also finished Animal, Vegetable, Miracle last night – LOVED it. I want a farm. But now I need new books  :)  I already have a list going, but I wanted to see what some of you are reading or have read lately.

Good book suggestions? I like just about anything. I’m itching to get into another book already – I missed reading on the way to work!

  1. I loved Animal, Vegetable, Mineral too! If you haven’t read The Time Traveler’s Wife yet, you should… it’s wonderful! I really liked Under the Table (about a girl’s adventures in culinary school), and I’m reading Spiced now (about another girl in culinary school and working as a pastry chef). Ooh and if you like short stories, then Jhumpa Lahiri’s Unaccustomed Earth is a great one to check out. I love her writing/story telling.

Good luck with the headache. I always take a bunch of Advil when I feel one coming on.

  2. Jhumpa Lahiri for sure! Any of her 3 books are amazing.

Have you read Barbara Kingsolver’s other books? Prodigal Summer, Animal Dreams, The Bean Trees, and Pigs in Heaven are all awesome!!

  3. I just finished a book called “Cutting for Stone”. Its a long one, but definitely a good one! I definitely recommend checking it out!

  4. aaaw sorry about the headache. I drink a bit of coffee, which usually helps.

I’m in love with Gabriel Garcia Marquez…I’ve read almost everything he’s written. He’s the master of magic realism!

  5. Sorry about the headache. :-(

I still want to read Animal, vegetable, mineral. And I hear that Omnivore’s Dilemma is good.

  6. Yes! Water water water. A little caffeine if you can have it (a little diet sodee wont hurt, coffee or tea is best though) will also help a lot. And eating something that isnt too carb high as well (extra sugars or carbs may make headache worse). Eggs would def help so hopefully you feel better soon lovey!

Have you read the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlene Harris? The show True Blood is based off the books but the books are completely different. I am obsessed and currently reading the most recent one.
Also maybe try something by Sophie Kinsella. I love her books :)

  7. headache cures:
excedrine will pretty much always kill them for me
    and then lots of water
food, with some fat to it (like a little bit of peanut butter or a spoonful of ice cream) helps mine.

I’m reading In Defense of Food… as is I think half the planet :-)

  8. Excedrine Migraine. My miracle drug.

My Sister’s Keeper – Jodi Picoult

  9. ooo I hate headaches! Fortunately I don’t get them often… so no advice here… sorry!

  10. I love that book!

my Life in France by Julia Child?

  11. Have you read the omnivore’s dilemma? Great book – a little intense, but good. If you want something more mindless…check out the author Jodi Picoult; I LOVE her books…they are very interesting and fast paced….no boredom at all!

  12. there’s a pressure point on your hand that’s supposed to relieve headaches – sorry you’re getting one! make sure you’re hydrated!!!

  13. Anything by James Patterson is a good read! check them out if you like thriller type/mystery books! Highly recommend :)

  14. If you haven’t read it already, read The Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg – awesome read and great recipes to boot!

    Hope your headache goes away!

  15. I hope you feel better…at the moment I am reading The 19th Wife and it is pretty interesting :-)

  16. Hope your headache goes away before it gets too bad!

One of my favorite authors is Jan Karon. She has a series of books about small town life in Mitford. First book is “At Home in Mitford.” It is a wonderful story! Clean, funny and will make you cry too.

  17. Hope your headache went away! Can’t wait for that recipe!
