It has been way too long, my friend.
It has been over a week – actually close to 2 weeks – since I’ve had oatmeal or oatbran! Way too long in my opinion, but those were not options for breakfast in Honduras.
I was so hot when I got out of the shower that I almost changed my breakfast plans, but I pushed through the heat and am enjoying every bite :)
- 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, pinch salt
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- 1/4 -1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
- cinnamon!!!
- 2 Tbsp of a new trail mix we got: cranberries, raisins, almonds, dark chocolate
One secret I have to eat oatmeal if I really want it but am already hot? I stir in frozen berries. The cold berries cools down the oatmeal juts enough so it’s not super hot, and the oatmeal thaws the berries enough to eat.
If I could find a way to put dark chocolate in my breakfast every day, I would.
Any random food tips/secrets you use?

I love oatmeal too so I add some greek yogurt that cools it down too. I call it purple mess with frozen blueberries, honey and greek yogurt all stirred in. So delicious!
I might have to try your trail mix with the dark chocolate. I live for dark chocolate.
I’m having oats for the first time in a while this morning, also!
That looks like a gourment bowl–yum!! I saw there was cinnamon in there–count me in! :-)
I do the frozen berry thing too! But sometimes I forget to put the frozen berries into the oatmeal until AFTER the oatmeal cools down, and then I’m stuck with both cold oatmeal AND frozen berries. Doh!
i can’t remember the last time i had oats…must be over a month ago, maybe two! too hot where i’ve been to have them!
In the summer I make my oatmeal cold. I just soak it overnight in milk or soy milk, then stir in greek yogurt, almond butter, fruit, and loooove it! Its like dessert.
MMM i love it! I stir in unsweetened coconut at the end of cooking and then it smells AMAZING!
