Healthier Brownies?

I made these brownies a while ago, but never posted the final recipe!

They were featured in a guest post, thanks to Rose, but I never posted it here!

Maybe these will kick up some weekend baking?

These would be great with all different mix-ins!

I only used 1 square of chocolate chopped up because that’s all I had. I love the walnuts in them, but they would be great with pecans, just chocolate, dried cherries…anything!

These were somewhat fudgy, somewhat cakey. You could also sub some of the applesauce for some canola oil, and that might make them a little more fudgy.

They were great on their own right out of the pan or warmed up in a bowl with a little ice cream and chocolate syrup…yum.

Let me know if you try them!

Do you like your brownies cakey or fudgy?

    I’m all about fudgy brownies!

  3. Oh so delicious! THANK YOU!

  4. FUDGY FUDGY FUDGY!!

  5. Definitely fudgy. I actually like them a little undercooked so it’s kind of batter-y. Is that gross?

  6. cakey? fudgey? how can one choose?!

  7. oh i’ve been waiting for this. thanks for posting the recipe.

on the cakey/fudgey spectrum, i lean towards fudgey.

  8. These look awesome! The answer to your question is FUDGY! Definitely. I almost always undercook mine a bit just to be sure they have a bit of goo to them. SO good!!

  9. Mmm your eats look so amazing!

  11. Thanks for making me hungry! hehe Those look fabulous. Will put them on my list of “must-try’s!”

  12. following the crowd, but i have to say fudgey. those look great!

  13. Definitely fudgy. Do you melt the chocolate before hand? I am guessing . . . Also, no eggs??!

    • I did not melt the chocolate – I just broke into tiny pieces.

Nope, no eggs, but that may be why they’re more cakey than fudgy? I want to try modifying them again and adding an egg, too. They’re great like this, though!

  14. Those look great! For whatever reason, my brownies NEVER turn out – I may still have to give this a whirl!

  15. Fudgy is the way to go! These look amazing and I’m definitely making them soon. Thanks for posting the recipe.

  16. Hi! I made these brownies today and they turned out very well. I did add one egg to the mixture as suggested before for texture. I made two batches…the first batch tasted a little bitter so I added more sugar the second time, a little more than 1/4 cup extra. The second batch came out smooth and chocolatey! A really great alternative to normal oil and egg brownies! Thanks for the recipe!
