Un-Satisfaction

Do you ever have those days that are just blah? I think I’m having one.

My oatmeal was awesome, my work day has been pretty busy, but I just feel nothing. Like nothing matters either way. Just “eh”.

Maybe because I ate lunch and am not really satisfied?

I packed an awesome lunch of sliced tomato, roasted yellow squash, and a couscous salad I made last night.

cous

This has:

  • whole wheat couscous
  • diced zucchini
  • diced red onion
  • sliced black olives
  • 1 can chickpeas
  • lemon juice
  • oregano
  • salt
  • pepper

I heated up the squash/tomato and dumped the couscous on top – it was great!

I also have this fruit bowl to end my lunch with

fruit

This cantaloupe is lasting forever! Nick’s not a fan, so it takes me a while to eat a whole one by myself.

I thought the beans / couscous would be enough protein for lunch, but I am just not satisfied at all! I may dig into my afternoon snack sooner than expected.

How do you get yourself out of a funk?

Do you think your mood affects your food or vice versa?

  1. Ugh! I hate those funky days! I definitely think food can affect your mood because when you’re not satisfied, you’re going to keep thinking about what you could have eaten and what you didn’t bring–it can be very distracting!
I’m sorry, I hope you get out of the funk! I would go after that afternoon snack!

  2. I think food and exercise play a huge role in mood! Are you working out after work today? That may help!

  3. I totally have those days! I definitely think food makes my mood better sometimes when it’s super healthy and delicious, but sometimes it’s just not enough. Exercise is a big help.

Also, I think getting off work can be a big help too : )

  4. Food and exercise and, most importantly, queueing in to my needs can really help. For example, some days, going for a run is just what I need to get out of a mood. Other days, I need to skip my workout and just take a walk and enjoy the sunshine or stroll through a bookstore. I hope your afternoon improves!!

  5. I have had blah days and they suck! And I think I eat more carbs/sugar on those days..which probably doesnt help! haha Exercise is a great way to kick a funk!

    Such vibrant fruit! :D

  6. Sorry you are having a blah day – I listen to upbeat music on my iPod! :D

I love your couscous salad – sans the onions! :D

  7. Sorry for the “eh” day :(

I listen to music that makes me happy or think about something I’m looking forward to (your trip to Honduras!) to get myself out of funk.

And my mood totally affects my food choices! I tend to eat less or just all this crappy stuff when I’m feeling ehhh.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  8. girl, your eats are the BEST!!!!! I love every single picture and yummy you put in your tummy.

Oh my friend, we all get in funks. I say just remember that tomorrow is a NEW day and when we start to think about all the reasons today isn’t “so bad afterall” we realize that it doesn’t need to be all peaches and cream to still be an amazingly blessed day. No need for cheers or beers… :D Just knowing it’s okay to just feel okay. ;)

    XOXO

  9. A good workout always helps to clear my head and lift me out of a funk. I think mood and food (hehe) have a balanced relationship. Eating heavy/icky things make me feel bad, but if I’m in a bad mood it’s hard to be satisfied. And boredom eating can creep up!
